Okay, so that's not ENTIRELY true, but.....

I really like the recycled shorts and soaker I made for over-night, but I'm not really happy with the wraps I've tried. It seems like the side-snap covers over side-snap diapers are too bulky and give my son hips, they are SLIGHTLY better over front snap dipes, and the only front snap covers I've tried are one-size and too bulky for my not quite 13 pounder. I want something trim, but not leaky.... Am I asking for too much?? Also, is there anyway to get these not to wick in the carseat? I have to put him in a fuzzi bunz if I want to go anywhere or it wicks at the buckle of the car seat. I am kind of thinking about trying a ribby wrap, does anyone have any comments on them? Anyways please throw out your suggestions, since I can't afford to spend any more money on covers I don't like.

Um, my suggestion would be a Fuzbomb. (I think the website is www.fuzeasy.com )

They are pricey but I would REALLY look for a used one! (make sure they are the new style though with the STRETCHY part in the back)

I have a SM I have been SQUEEZING on my DD because I Dont want to give it up....I am afraid I am going to have to retire it soon though

UM, A Kiwi Pie would be good. If you can find one....again, look for used

As for compression leaks...cant help ya there, thats kinda why I dont use as much wool as I used too

Have you considered knitted wool? If you like your pull-up shorts, perhaps you'd like a pull-on style wool? You can get a BJ's Marketplace soaker on ebay for relatively inexpensive, so you wouldn't be out a lot of money if you're not happy! (They sell shorts and pants, too.)

I would agree that doubling up on the wool through the wetzone might help with compression leaks. Also, super lanolize your covers -- I lanolize to the point of tackiness, and my sink is a disaster area afterwards. :LOL

Hmmmm ... as for front snapping wool covers, I can't really think of anything off the top of my head. I don't like front snapping on Gemma, so I avoid them. Maybe someone else could help you out there.

I would love to try BJ Marketplace, but it's toooo big for my son, since they only seem to have mediums? Timkin is a very skinny 12.5 lb 6 month old monster! I REALLY want to try some knitted wool, but I can't find any that fits my ds that I can afford. I'll keep on looking. As for the Cuddle wool, these are just WAY WAY WAY too bulky on my son, so I just sold two of them.

Wow! I have a 6 month old who is 21 pounds!!! Just shows you how kids the same age can be so different. :LOL Some places carry the BJ Marketplace in size smalls...I had one until DS was about 2 months and outgrew it (he is so chunky). I think www.softclothbunz.com has some instock.

Have you tried a Bumpy Wool Wrap--this has a velcro wrap closure though.

Also, if you knit or crochet you can make some wool doublers really easily--I just knitted some rectangles in garter stitch and felted them by washing them with the regular diaper laundry and I really like them. If you don't knit this is really easy knitting--you just need to learn to cast on, do the knit stitch, and bind off. Also, another option if you don't want to knit is to try felting an old bulky sweater like crazy to the point where it doesn't unravel anymore, and then cutting rectangles out of it once it's felted.

Rather than always using FBs in the car seat, it might be easier to also get some nylon pull-on pants like alexis feather-lites to pull over your fitted dipes. You can get 2 for $10 and they are super trim. Here is one place that has both bumpy an alexis FL covers:

I'd try knitted or crocheted wool. There are plenty of affordable options out there. I know of at least 2 mdc mamas who would gladly whip up a custom for you. Aleshia (mdc id Tiskin) does lovely crocheted work (very quickly too), and she uses HPY, which is sooooo nice. I have a pair of longies crocheted by her which you can see in my stash pix. Mary (mdc id memiles) does lovely knitted work, also with HPY. I have a soaker knitted by her, pix also in my stash pix. Then there's also http://www.woolsoakers.net. Valerie's prices are very reasonable, she takes custom orders, and she does very nice work. HTH!

I would try pull on wool.

The only snap wrap wool that works for us so far is PWP. The other ones I have fit funny. Except the ones with velcro fit better.

We use mostly pull on styles and longies

Loveybums are my favorite wool cover. They are front snap and have 2 cross over snaps so will fit the absolute skinniest of babes!

Also a huge factor is the difference between merino jersey and interlock (my favs). Interlock is so soft and stretchy and jsut a bit thicker than a jersey weight, but still very trim. I never have wicking problems with interlock. At 12.5 pounds a medium loveybums would be perfect. And will fit forever because of the snap placement.

I hope you find something that works for you
