So, she's about 4 months + 1 week old and at our ped visit the ped seemed concerned that she's not rolling over yet - told me to make a special appt in 1 month to check her "motor skills' or something like that.

Is she really late to not be rolling over? She does arch her back a lot, especially when she's sitting in a bouncy seat-type position.

Is this just a by-the-book ped going by her stupid chart?

Neither of my kids rolled over until 5 months. It is one of those developmental 'chart' things. My kids sat late too, ds not until 9 mos and dd not until 8 months. I wasn't worried because we've got family history of late large motor development. Ds went from not sitting to sitting, to pulling to a stand, to walking in about 6-8 weeks.

That being said, it's a ped's job to be cautious. So, I don't blame him. I'd rather have a ped who wants a check up than one who blows off a parent who's worried.

Mine is 6 months and has only rolled a few times, and my ped. says he is fine.

That seems really young for the ped to be so concerned. I don't think anyone even asked about rolling at the 4 month WBV for my daughter or my son.

My son wasn't even rolling by his 6 month check up, still isn't. The doctor did sort of raise an eyebrow about it. But after we talked more about what he is doing and after he observed him a bit more, he figured he probably had the ability but just lacked the desire...IOW he's lazy

All 4 of mine rolled belly to back by 8ish weeks. They all really liked tummy time and 3 were tummy sleepers. When you have tummy time help her practice pushing and rolling

My Ds didn't roll over till he was 8.5 mons. He was already sitting on his own and doing a shuffle crawl before he rolled over.

My LO is about 3 months old and my ped was shocked she was already rolling over (made me show her the video to prove it). She told me that most babys don't roll over till 4 or 5 months, and a lot don't till 6 months. I wouldn't worry at all, she'll figure it out when she's ready

Thanks for posting this. Mine is 8.5 months old, and he doesn't roll over. He sits, cruises, and crawls (but only backwards), but just won't roll over.
