I'd run for the hills.
Firstly, 25 births only is obscene. As a CPM, I'm going to need to witness 25 births, manage 50 in labor and delivery, and be the primary midwife at 25. I also will have to provide continuous care for the full 9 months for 10 women before I can even be licensed.
Secondly, the midwifery model of care certainly supports questioning the routine testing, etc., that may come up. The fact that she stated that she had no idea why anyone would want to question that would make me feel that she didn't even care to understand me. Also, the placenta is YOURS. Not the hospitals. Even my mainstream midiwives asked me and said that I looked like the kind of person who wanted to cook it in a stew or something.
Thirdly, the best birthing position for me thus far has been standing next to the bed, leg up on the side of the bed. My midwife said that instinctively, my body did things that helped her, like tilting my hips in a certain way as the baby was coming out, so that I could help manage the delivery. Birth out of the bed if you feel like it.
ONLY ON THURSDAYS??? Insane.
On the other hand, you may be able to help her get the "practice" of natural healthy birth. That would be good. Great for her, and as long as you know what you want and how to get it, you should be okay. My midwives love it when I birth--it's the only time they have a patient who doesn't walk in the door yelling for her epidural. :LOL
