PS I also thought it might be cool for those of us participating to include a candle with our gift, one that we can light when we hear of other mamas in labor, to offer support across the globe. Just a thought...

Theme: blessing way.. bring a thought to share with the group

I like all of the ideas - so I'm game to any of the options

Value:

$homemade or $10 max--- I like the idea of it being homemade .. although I will need some notice to bring out my dusty supplies

Maybe all Gifts must be sent by the 21st of September in case of early birth etc..

I'm just worried that if we wait until mid-October, then there are going to be babies born already! What about end of August/early Sept for the cyber shower? Then we can make sure all babes (or hopefully all babes) are still nestled snug. Is that okay?

I am pretty much open to whatever gets the strongest opinions! I think Sep 30 s/b the cut off though.

i'm for a mother-blessing gift, $10 max or homemade. i like the candle idea, as long as we have the option to specify not scented! this will be fun; nice idea, jesse!

I too, am open to just about anything here! I love the idea for the homemade gift. The candle idea is an awesome idea!
August/early September sounds fine to me too!!!

I really like this idea. I think gifts for baby or mom would be nice. Would we be matched up with one person, or would it be more than one person? If it's just one, then a $20 max would be fine with me. We could do several mamas and have a $5-10 max or homemade only. I'll second a mid-September deadline. I also think people should specify in their emails to you whether they use or are interested in using cloth for themselves or baby, and if they have any specific AP needs, i.e. slings (some of us are quite good at making our own), books, etc. I also like the candle idea!

I'd like to participate, but I'm not good at making anything, and money is very tight so $20 max but it would have to be something that I buy because like I said I'm not good at making anything.

Um, what exactly is a cyber shower? Sounds like an interesting idea, but what else, besides sending gifts, does it entail?

Count me in! Will there be a sign up thread, with a deadline? We could post our information there, too (not our address, etc. just our interests for the person to get ideas from).

September sounds like a good exchange time to me, too.

So what I am getting from the PM's and replies this thread has rec'd is that most folks are up for making or buying a gift for mom or babe, with the mom picking which she'd prefer--either for mom or babe, not handmade or purchased! LOL. The spending limit seems to be around $20, but it is up to the giver to decide what is best (ie, don't go over $20 and handmade is just as good.) Everyone has expressed an interest in the candle exchange, so that will be a part of the exchange, too. If you sign up for the exchange, please know that the candle is also a part of it--unless you think they should be separate. LMK.

I'm thinking that we can light candles when a mama posts that she is in labor, then there would be lots of love and light shining around the globe!

It sounds like folks are mostly interested in a mother's blessing kind of thing, and are open to ideas. I think, if it's okay, that we should make that our theme (and, fyi, the term blessingway has been hashed and rehashed on these boards--some find the term culturally insensitive, so I'll use "mother blessing" instead).

Let's have our deadline be mid-september for the gifts to arrive-- Say Sept. 17th is the day we all open them? That will give us the whole summer to make/look for stuff. I'll draw names for the first round of match-ups so that you'll have some idea what to be looking for. I'll draw names on Friday, if that sounds good. If you want to participate, please PM me with the info (see this OP).

LMK any other ideas. For those of you who have sent me PMs--I have your info and am keeping it for the match-ups.
