Does anyone know what the safe dosages of Vitamin C and Echinacea are for nursing mothers? I am trying to boost my immune system through a cold and I am nursing my 14 month dd.

Thanks!

Since both of those are safe for children, I wouldn't be too worried about nursing a toddler.

I don't know that much about Echinacea, but vit c is safe at very high levels (thousands of mg) unlike other vitamins which are toxic (like vit. A).

I take both while nursing.

thanks so much Mallory and UlrikeDG for the info and links! As we enter cold/flu season, I needed to find out what I could safely do (immune system boosting) while nursing. I will nurse until dd shows signs of self-weaning. For my ds, that meant until he was just over 2 years...

thanks again for the support!

Just wanted to add that they are both fine even at higher doses than you'd probably take. (I went to Uni in England for Phytotherapy).
