Nursing Bra Help

Ok, I recieved this really nice 38 DD bra from a friend..Motherhood Maternity, real nice...

Problem..

It's too small...like the flap fits, but the ring inside is really making a mark so to speak...

Any place where I can get some GOOD COMFY Nursing bras in umm...

HUGE?

I live on Vancouver island, and I'm loathe to buy over the internet without first trying it on. And I dont think there's a motherood around.

And No nursing bra isn't an option. I'm a Lifter upper, and if I lift a sports bra up the other breast comes free and that's not cool...

*sigh* I want to get at least two, if not three by the time this baby is born...My breasts are getting to be Dolly Parton proportions and the discomfort is really not good

Oh yeah, I'm just 24 weeks pregnant too!

Hmmmm... I actually bought all mine at Zellers (on sale). I'm normally a B cup but went up to a D cup. I had no problems finding that size but I have no idea about bigger ones and what they carry. Worth a shot though?! Much cheaper than traditional maternity places.

Unfortunately Walfart, Zellers, Sears, and the Ilk only carry "Normal" sizes.

Right now, I'm Beyond a DD into like...Well lets just say my breasts are almost the size of my 3yr old's head.

I've always had trouble buying bras. Nursing bras aren't any different. *sigh*

I even checked the Super Store and the biggest they carry is DD, which I've outgrown....

When I was nursing my daughter I was a DD, but now It's like WOAH! Cantaloupes!

I think DD is the biggest most normal dept stores carry... *sigh*

Seriously I could measure myself and pray through an online purchase..but I dont like that idea one bit...I dont want my breasts cut in half, or hanging down to my kneecaps

Best holder upper I've found is InDueTime (Target) camisoles. I too am a 38DD even after pregnancy. With this I buy a size XXL. I'm not sure it would work during pregnancy though, unless you don't mind the shirt part riding up your belly, sorry.

No Target. I'm in Canada.

And Can you do the Lifter Upper technique in a Cami? Or is that a strait puller downer, because if it's a puller downer, No can do without everything escaping and flowing out over the top.

My breasts are wild beasts that are hard to contain on the best of days.

Lifter Upper? Puller Downer? Wild Beasts?

Good luck with the booby taming!

Lifter Upper: Person who lifts up the shirt to nurse

Puller Downer: Someone who pulls down the shirt to nurse

My gals do not allow the pulling downing...
I don't know if you have Nordstrom's in Vancouver, but there is at least the flagship store in Seattle. I am currently a 38E and I like the La Leche League bra Nordstrom sells. I know it goes up at least to an F, if not larger. It's kind of pricey though-- $42 US.
Good Luck!
This might help...

The other option of course is to make sure that if you do decide to order online that it is FULLY REFUNDABLE if it does not fit the way you had hoped.

Good Luck.

>.> If she's able to come to the Island that would be primo..but the whole Ferry ride + gas...that would be hellish.

I DID find the YES!Breastfeeding site.

Gonna look into them..see if my midwive has anything good to say about them. I took my measurements and I"m a 3++ in YES! size...
I bought a bunch of the $7/8 ones at Walmart. I'm a 38/40C. I know I saw D cups, but I'm not sure about DD. I could take a look next time I go if you'd like.

It's a thought that's appreciated, but DD is acctually too small for me now.

You swear that only pr0n stars and Trophy wives are the only ones that are "allowed" to have large breasts from the A: lack of availablity of larger sized bras in normal dept stores and B: The outrageous cost of bras that are larged sized in a boutique where well, the only place where you CAN find large bras.

It's insane, depressing and sad.

It's not JUST about nursing bras, it's about bras in general...Of course I do need help finding a well fitting nursing bra, it's just that, finding a well fitting bra in GENERAL for larger sized moderate income women is DIFFICULT...It's a bloody crime...

*sigh*

Reason #42 why I'm getting a reduction after this little babe is done nursing...New bras are TOO Expensive and the weight of the girls wear out my bras faster than they normally would wear out (Despite by the label care)

I have the same problem as you. The largest I have found is a DDD online at SEars.ca Its definitely not attractive. The shape of those nursing bras definitely needs a revamp - much more "cone shape" than modern looking bra, and the cone points away from the centre -- but if you're desperate...

I've ordered Bravado Bras with good success from Bosom Buddies Canada. http://www.breastfeedingwear.com They are located in COmox. I'm not sure where on the Island you are -- but hopefully close.

Hey pandora, where on the Island are you?
Mothering Touch Centre in Victoria is wonderful. Here they are online.

They carry all kinds of bras (I know they carry at least bravado, medela and glamourmom) and help you out trying them on. I'm pretty sure everyone who works there is a Breastfeeding Counselor. They're Awesome. I'm also huge 'up there' and I bought all of my bras from them. (plus they carry slings, cloth diapers and tons of other great stuff)

Feel free to pm me if you end up coming down. I'm within walking distance of their store. Good luck taming the girls.

Another big busted girl here. 36DD BEFORE getting PG and nursing. At one point I was in an F/G bra!
:
If this is any consolation - my breasts were bigger while PG than when nursing! LOL After the first few months, they went down as my supply got established. But I also started leaking at 18 wks, and ballooned at that point. My boobs were bigger than my baby belly!
A year later, cup size is much more managable at a DD/E. Here is what I found works well - BTW those motherhood bras look nice but they are CHEAP. I made the mistake of trying one - it sucked somethign awful.

What I liked:

Sportsbra style - Bravado nursing bras They carry VERY large sizes.
I have two M++ (white and nude) - which is your size - if you would like to try them - PM me. I don't use them anymore, but they are still in good shape. They were a godsend while PG, the first few motnhs, and were comfty to wear to bed or lounging around. I LOVE the fact that they grow with you - encompassing several sizes, so as your boobs and chest itself grow later in PG, the bra expands with you - instead of having to go buy more.

My fave though is the Medela nursing bras. SOOOOO comfty. Better than any bra I have EVER worn in my life. You still get the bra shape, that I just didn't get with the sportbra style - plus a ton of support. The comfort is unbeatable - plus they are not hideous looking either.

The best advice I got on getting bras while PG was from my MW - get the bra band size you normally wear, with the larger cup size - and just use extenders. Cuz you will drop back down in band size once the baby is out and your chest goes back to normal (it expands to accomadate baby growing). At one point during PG I was wearing a 40 F/G - but a month after DS was born I was back down to the 36/37 size again.
thank goodness I bought those extenders and didn't waste money on bigger bras.

Stole your thunder, ndunn

I totally agree about the bravados. I'm also an M++. I don't necessarily agree about the Medela though! I have one and I don't like the fabric. It's nice when I don't want the uniboob look
