Hi all! I'm new over here and was wondering if anyone could help me.<br><br>
I've been suffering from depression for most of my life, however it's been easy to manage UNTIL I got pregnant w/our thrid baby. About 3 mos. into the pg my DD weaned and then it seemed like everything fell apart. My baby is now 5 1/2 mos. old and I need some help. I have no bad feelings for baby at all. Although I have had some bad feelings towards my daughter which I feel TERRIBLE about. Mind you it's never harming her or anything like that. Just that I've sometimes felt that I'm not being a good mother to her.<br><br>
I want a remedy that is completely safe for nursing. I will not take a prescription drug for this. I have heard of Inositol (sp???) and L-try-something. LOL! Sorry, bad memory. I'm wondering how much, do I need something else in combination w/these two things, etc.<br><br>

I've been taking St. John's Wort and it has helped, you might want to see if that's okay with nursing. IIRC you can take 5-HTP while nursing, too. Also, cod liver oil and B vitamins should help, and those are fine to take while nursing <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

I've been wondering about natural remedies for depression that are compatible with nursing as well. Is 5-HTP really compatible with nursing? I have had a hard time coming up with any data to back this up in my search.

Wondering the same thing. I am off meds because I am nursing and I am ok now, but I would like to know what to take should I need something. I tend to be ok for 6 mo give/take w/o meds and then I start to have problems, so I really want to have a plan.<br><br>
