Hey all you mamas who are still nursing toddlers through this pregnancy - how's it going?

Lynden's still nursing a few times a day, and every time he causes contractions that can get pretty intense - they stop as soon as I get up and move around, but I'm hoping they at least get things softened up & a bit open so my labour can go really fast!

I'm kind of pensive about tandem nursing, but it's evident that Lynden's nowhere near ready to wean, and that's not going to change in the next 3+ weeks. So a tandem nursing mama I will be!

Hope the rest of you mamas are coping well with the demands of nursing through pregnancy!

We're still going strong. Last week was rough for some reason, it was hurting really bad and I was getting touched out by the middle of the day but things are better this week.

I'm pretty sure she's getting her two year molars, which I was really hoping would happen before baby came.

I'm looking forward to getting my milk back and hopefully putting an end to the frequent comfort nursing. I'm hoping that with a belly full of milk she won't be hopping on and off like she is now, but we'll see.

DS has been nursing more often lately... which means sometimes twice in the same day. We've also had days in a row where he didn't. Tonight he fell asleep nursing on my lap for the first time in I couldn't tell you HOW long. ;-)

I get some BH contrax when he nurses, but not a lot. Baby does tend to kick him when he's nursing, though, so I guess that means *something* is getting affected in the uterine environment. He giggles about it and sometimes tells the baby jokingly to stop it.

We've talked about how, after the baby comes, it will be nice because the milk will come back, but also it may be hard because the baby has to nurse a LOT and sometimes DS may have to wait until baby's done before he can nurse. I'm anticipating a sharp upswing in his interest after my milk comes in, and going to try to nurse him on demand as much as feasible with a newborn to satisfy too, in hopes that he gets used to it quickly and tapers off again. ;-) I'm actually much more comfortable with the idea of tandem nursing than nursing through pregnancy... I really was hoping to be weaned by the time I got pregnant, but was a bit sad about the idea of missing out on tandeming because of that. Glad we stuck it out!

I have accepted the fact that I will be a tandem nursing mama now. I really thought DS would be done by now, but he seems to be more interested than ever. A few months ago we could go days between nursing sessions, but now he wants to nurse at least twice a day and it lasts about half an hour.

I just hope all of the contractions DS is causing are doing some good.

We're still going strong here. DD has never seemed to notice any change at all in the milk. I find that quite strange. I wish I knew what and how much is in those boobs. She nurses at bed time for about 15 minutes, wake up time for 20-45 minutes, and then during the day the amount varies based on how much time we spend at home and not very active. If we're out all day, she almost certainly doesn't ask to nurse. She also sometimes wakes up once in the middle of the night to nurse, but that's a real quicky.

I'm a bit apprehensive about the first week or two of tandeming and making sure that the baby gets enough. I'm not sure if I need to wake the baby nurse before DD's marathon session in the morning, for example, and I know that DD will be anything but happy to wait until the baby is through if I decide that I need to do that. Once the baby has regained its birthweight and the whole colostrum thing is over, I won't worry so much about the baby first rule. I guess this is just one of those things that you really can't plan for, though.

My ds is showing zero signs of being ready to be done which is as I expected. He is mostly self night weaned now which is really nice. I was not looking forward to the idea of 2 boys wanting to nurse through the night. He still nurses several times a day and prior to bed, but I am trying to get him to fall asleep without nursing to sleep so things won't be as rough when I'm in the hospital. He's doing pretty well with that, but it can take longer to get him to sleep if he gets wound up from his shower before bed. He stayed awake to watch most of Survivor with dh and I last night, but did eventually drift off just curled up next to me. Of course that was after switching who he wanted to snuggle with several times.

I have had to stop a few nursing sessions when contractions got to be too much for me. They will last for a bit after he is done nursing, but the longest they lasted was about an hour after one marathon session. I'd like the little person to stay on the inside until after April 9th so I'm starting to end sessions if I have more then 3 contractions during them or if they are too close together.

still hanging in there. DS has actually been obsessed with nursing lately, and also acting quite emotional - i think he's starting to feel that change is on its way and it's making him a bit more clingy than usual. DD was the same way when i was pg with DS. i swear he has probably nursed 12 times already this morning, and doesn't want to be off my lap. and of course i'm feeling soooo touched out and i just want some space. but i understand how he's feeling, and why he's feeling it, so i'm trying to give him what he needs.

i'll be glad when the weather finally warms up and we can get outside more. i think sometimes he nurses because he's bored and we're stuck inside, and being able to get out more will definitely help.

Yeah, the more i have become a lazy, couch sitting lump, the more she nurses. Coinidence? lol

I am starting to think about tandeming too. DD will say...I have this side, baby have that side. Oh my.

My biggest issue atm, is that its really hard toget her comfy on my belly. And if i happen to have BH ctx, it painful for her to be touching my belly. The nipple soreness is only for a second, but I just worry about fitting her on me for another month!

We are still nursing here, too. DD mostly/only would nurse in the side lying position before I got pregnant, and that hasn't changed. She likes to nurse when she wakes up, when she naps (sometimes she tries to stay on the whole time she is napping - up to 3 hours!) and then to sleep. But in the last week or two she has been sick and cranky, and her nursing pattern has changed. Lately she will nurse until she is tired and then pop off and go to sleep. Last night she didn't even nurse to sleep, she just snuggled down between dh and me and closed her eyes. Whoa!

I feel a little guilty because I have been taking her off the breast a lot, but I truly think her latch is getting sloppy and I just can NOT put up with a messy, pinchy, heebie-jeebery latch. So then when I keep plucking her off and telling to do it the right way and showing her the big open mouth with the tongue out, and she doesn't feel like doing it, she just gives up. But when she *does* nurse the right way, it always feels fine, so I guess my limits are reasonable. I just don't want her to wean yet. I'm definitely not ready, even if she is getting close.

I hope she stays interested in nursing when the baby comes. She is getting very interested in babies lately - she kissed one at the mall yesterday, it was really cute.
