greetings from uws....my first time here trying out the thread and tribal thing.

would love to hear about any future mdc gatherings (esp in central park), any more nurse-in photos, and how stay-at-home moms are keeping cool and their sanity?

Hi!

I'm in Astoria with two little ones ages 2 1/2 and 8 mo. We usually just head outside anyway and go to Astoria Park to run through the sprinklers. I just bought a little inflateable kiddie pool I'm gonna put out on our "front porch" to dip our toes in when it is too hot to go to the park. Keeping sane inside usually involves playdoh, paints, too much tv, and running outside when the italian ice cart goes by.

i don't know what we would do without sprinklers. we have air conditioning but my 2 year old would go berserk if we stayed inside all day. music helps if we are inside, and painting, drawing, reading, and trains. i guess it depends on how old your child/children are. museums are nice if you have a little one. i used to go to the met quite a bit.

hey tina- i am in astoria too! nice to see someone from the same neighborhood on the mothering website! which playground do you go to?

We often go to Astoria Park - the big playground by the water. But you may also find us at the Van Alst playground on 30th or the Hoyt Ave playground at 21st. When the weather isn't too hot, I like to take the girls on long walks as far as I feel up to walking and we will stop at any playground we find along the way!
