Hi all,

Just curious to know where any of you in NYC that work full time have placed your children for infant daycare.

I *potentially* have a spot at Nursery North near Columbia, but there is a strong possibility we will not clear the waitlist. Every other place we have looked into still has long waitlists.

Does anyone have any suggestions that I could research? Even for family/home daycare options? I am looking for full time care for January start...HELP!

I'm due in April and expect to go back to work sometime after July. Haven't done too much research yet except quicks looks at the government sites (Southern_Belle, have you tried this? The NYC Health Department and the NYC Office of Children's and Family Services site list licensed centers, OCFS has the family ones) and getting on a few email lists for my neighborhood.

I'm also planning to look into shared nannies, which would have to be where I live - ideally, so would a day care center, but if I could find a place near work (Chelsea) that I could afford that would be an option since it would allow me to drop in for lunch. I live in the Kensington/Midwood section of Brooklyn and DP works mostly at home. We can't go without child care, but if a shared nanny situation could be based at our home, he could provide oversight, and a little assistance.

i'm in the same boat. i will return to work in mid-february for 3 days a week and can only really afford $1250/month gross for daycare. if you find a nanny care situation, though, please let me know if you want to split costs. if you're near columbia it sounds like you might be nearby. i'm in washington heights. if i hear anything myself, i'll pass it along.

good luck!
