Does anyone know of any babysitting co-ops in the Oakland/Alameda/Berkeley area?<br><br>
I need to find some babysitters. I am a single teacher mama of a 4 year old and am having a very difficult time paying $15-20 an hour. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"><br><br>
There has to be some other options. I am more than happy to have some babysitting exchanges and I need a babysitter that often.

Off hand I don't, but the Berkeley Parents' Network does send out a "Childcare Digest" with people placing various ads. You might have some luck there.

alameda county has a referral agency, "<a href="http://www.bananasinc.org/" target="_blank">bananas</a>." it's in oakland on claremont right near where it comes off of telegraph (DMV is just up the block). they'll help you wade through the caregiver files, there's a xerox there, so you can copy the cards of possibilities.<br><br>
when i was looking for care (2002), the usual rate for single kids was 10-15/hr, and a bit less if a share.
