Is there no April thread? I'll start one.

DS is much happier with tummy time now that he rolled from his tummy to his back. One day he just figured it out and now that he knows he can get off his tummy, suddenly it is not bad to be there!

He's still his happy self. (this is my baby who literally does not cry--except at night when I come to bed and change him before I feed him back to dreamland.)

Laughs.
Big sis plays a new game that's hard to describe, but it makes him laugh---she turned 2 in January and decided a couple weeks ago to tandem with us about once a day (though the past two days she hasn't again) Since that, she's really started also playing with the baby. I think it's kind of cool--like since he "shares" me, now he's all right.

Maeleigh is rocking a lot! She gets on her knees, right in the crawling position and just rocks. It's hysterical. She also has two fully cut front bottom teeth. They are the cutest!! Her other buds have just stayed buds for now, but its all good.

When I hold her to my chest, she grabs my hair on each side of my head with each hand and opens her mouth as she pulls my face into hers and gets my whole nose in her mouth so she can bite it!
When DP is holding her, she puts her whole fist in his mouth. It's so adorable.

She is such a smiler, too. She will smile at people so much that they actually stop us in stores just to say hi to her and tell us how she smiles a lot and how she's beautiful. Usually she just smiles at them more and laughs, which makes them even happier.

Really, Mae is the perfect baby. I couldn't imagine a better baby. Six months and 18 solid pounds of baby!!

PS: I didn't start the April thread because I stared the March thread

Samara is working on the whole rolling thing. She can do tummy to back but not back to tummy. i weighed her with a full tummy and clothes and she's 15.0.
But she was little to begin with- birth 6.2, discharge 5.10. So I guess she's doing pretty well!

Um... she's figured out how to smile, and she kinda laughs. Not very much for me tho, mostly for Dada and the grammas.

DD does the same thing! She smiles at everyone in the stores and people are always stopping and talking to her. Its so sweet but at the same time, my grocery shopping now takes forever!

my DS is also super smiley right now, and I love the new expressions on his face as he's taking in more of the world around me. He weighs in at 18lbs and my arms are getting toned from hauling him everywhere! He's really inconsistent still with sleep habits - falling asleep one night at ten, the next at eight, the next at eleven. I have friends with babies of similar ages whose kids are going to sleep every night at seven and I am so jealous!! But they all use CIO so there you go. Kind of wondering how all of your six month olds are sleeping, since it's on the brain.

Mine, too! It's hard, though, because I'M so shy myself, and I really don't want it to rub off on the Baby!

Eddie was born 10-30, so I feel like I baaaarely qualify for this thread!

He loves his tummy time now, too, but no rocking yet. He does like to "skootch", though. He tucks his arms under his chest, puts his head down and pushes off with his feet. He kind of slides along the floor on his forehead lol

He did it last night, and skootched from where I'd put him down on his rug all the way over to where Daddy was working in his laptop! DH was so surprised to see him down there!

I love how he looks all serious and grunts and babbles. It looks like he really thinks he's telling me a story!

My bub is kind of unpredictable, too. Even his naps are different from day to day. Last night he was up until ten, and the night before he was down at 7.
We bedshare, so he doesn't wake all the way up during the night, but I sure do!

I don't mind it, though. It gets kind of frustrating when we're wondering if we can go out to dinner with friends, or something, because we can't predict if he'll sleep all the way through, or need to be ENTERTAINED the whole time. Also, he still can't sleep without one of us there (he'll wake up within ten minutes if I put him down while he's napping, or if both DH and I get out of bed in the morning) but I see it as a trade-off: as long as he's sleeping "through" the night, I don't really mind having him need to sleep on us. (I kind of like it, actually. So snuggly.

Same here but the opposite end of the spectrum, DD was born 10/1 so I am barely in the October group!

Sleep has been really unpredictable around here too. We have kind of gotten into a routine of playing in her room for about 20-30 minutes every night around 7ish (usually around 7:15). We just do some quiet play, let her roll around and play with her rattles and such.....just some nice family time with both Mommy and Daddy since he is gone all day. Then around 7:45 I nurse her and put her to bed. She's typically asleep by 8:15.

Some nights she will be up an hour later but I can easily rock her back to sleep in a minute or two.....some nights she will stay asleep for hours (2, 3, 4 sometimes up to 6!) Then she seems to wake up every 2 hours after that until 7 am when she is wide awake.

Naps are getting a *little* more predictable. She always has a morning nap around 9:30.....sometimes for 45 minutes, sometimes for 90 minutes - those are nice!
She does an afternoon nap around 2 which is usually only 30 minutes.

I really try to get her to take another nap around 5 or she is rubbing eyes and cranky by 6 pm. Last night she only had two naps and I had her in bed at 6:45! I don't like doing this too much though because DH doesn't get much time with her if she goes to bed that early.

Hayden isn't doing too bad with sleep. Most of the time he naps 3 times per day for abuot 1/2 and hour each. 8:30 is bath time and then we powder his bum, put on a diaper and I nurse him to sleep.

Like NaturalMama, sometimes he's up in an hour and I need to rock or nurse him back down and sometimes he sleeps until 12:30 or so and wakes up hungry. He usually wakes up twice a night to eat. After daylight savings time something swtiched and he was SOOO unpredictable that I was going crazy. But all's back to normal now. THANK goodness.

Anyway, he can roll tummy to back, but hardly ever does. He's working on back to tummy, but so far only makes it to his side. He tries to push with his feet, but only manages to push his head into the floor. LOL. He doesn't like tummy time much at all though, so we don't play diwn there much.

But he LOVES to play sitting up. He's amazing at it. I can just sit near him and fold a load of laundry and talk to him. He'll pick up his different toys and put them all in his mouth (of course.) He just smiles at me and laughs.

So has anyone started solids yet? That's probably a silly question, but Hayden is also toward the end of the month, so we're just getting ready to start here. DH is itching to start solids. I ordered the book Baby Led Weaning and really liked it. It just resonated with me, so I think that self-feeding is how we're going to go about the process. What are you doing with your LOs?

Milo has tried a few solids, but isn't very enthusiastic yet. He loves his teething biscuits though! He likes prunes mixed with oatmeal and yogurt.

sleep, eh- not so great. I don't have any trouble getting him to sleep, but he has no set naptime, so he's ready for bed a little different time each night.

smiles, laughs, 'talks' grabs my face/hair/nose. He seesm to like to honk my nose while he's nursing to sleep.
He rolls over both directions and scoots backwards on his tummy. He's almost sitting, and gets his knees up under his belly like he's gonna crawl any minute! 2 full months younger than ds1! Gonna cut two teeth soon too.

Can I join you? My dd was due in October but born 9/30. I'm loving this age! Dd is so sweet and smiley. She's so cute I could just eat her up! I suspect she will be my last baby, so I am trying to slow down and really love every minute of her babyhood. She loves rolling around on the floor and I think she will be crawling in another week or two. She props up on her knees and pushes off and she can scoot across the whole room already. I was not expecting this! My older ds didn't crawl until 9.5 months. Time to babyproof again!

I am feeling ambivalent about solids. Mostly I'm just really lazy! I haven't pushed very hard, and I'm sort of intrigued by the baby-led feeding idea (I had never heard anything about that until I read about it on this board). Dd has had a few spoonfuls of pear puree and I offer her a taste of my fruit if I'm eating some (pear or grapes). She just doesn't have much interest and spits out whatever I give her. My pedi suggested starting this week or next week, but she didn't push. We're visiting mil in a couple weeks and I'm sure she will be somewhat shocked that dd isn't eating more solids (she started dh on solids when he was less than a month old!). Ah well. She'll do her best to hold her tongue.

Dd also had two teeth that came in about a week ago! So far teething pain doesn't seem too bad. She's a pretty mellow baby.

I can't believe how fast she's growing, how soon she'll be out of the baby phase. They always say that about the second child (or third or fourth), and it's true!

Do I have the youngest baby here? (EDD 10/31 actual b-day 11/7, joined Oct. instead of Nov. because DD was 9 days early.....)

I used to nurse Zahir in the livingroom while reading or TV-watching with the older 2 before bed and then oldest DS would go to his bed, my mom lives here and DD snuggles with her, and I would go nurse baby to sleep.
He was trying to fall asleep in the livingroom but would inevitably be woken up by movement and noise.

I have found that since I switched the routine and started taking him to nurse in bed for that sleepy-nursing, he is falling asleep faster and earlier (usually within 15 min or so) and STAYING asleep.

MOST of the time it is working out that I am back out to do teeth and tuck-ins and spend some snuggle time with DD.

The 'old way' baby was getting a 'second wind' for a few minutes of playtime or a bath and then taking a long time to get nursed down, often asleep for about 5 min and then switching sides. All in all it was taking an hour or more. And then sometimes 2 hours later he'd be looking for boo again.

"new way" we are in the bed a half hour or more earlier than we used to be, but the whole routine to sleeping baby is 30 minutes tops, and he is sleeping almost every night 3-4 hour stretch. (I think he wakes less all night long too, I really don't KNOW with the cosleeping lol) There have literally been times I have gone in to check and make sure he's OK because it seems so long compared to before LOL
