What authors have inspired you? What books, magazines, or other media would you recommend to people who are interested in OTG/country/homesteading lifestyles?

As for me, I love Wendell Berry.
I just read Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver, which isn't at all a how-to manual, but is a beautiful novel that expresses the love people have for the land around them. I'd like to get some ideas for my next big book ordering binge (magazines and other media OK too.)

I just finished reading some Wendell Berry (Agarian Essays), and Barbara Kingsolver is great. For magazines my favorites are Back Home, Countryside and Small Stock Journal, Permaculture Activist, and Mother Earth News. For books I like Bill Mollison, Carla Emery, lots of stuff for Storey's books... mainly how-to manuals.
