Well crap. My sister's wedding is in July. I wanted to have this huge, fabulous basket of knitted bliss for them, and all I've managed to put together is a half dozen dishcloths and some coasters. So.....I think I need something very fast and very easy. I'm thinking about an afghan, and log cabin comes to mind but I HATE picking up stitches. Any good suggestions for a fun, fairly easy knit pattern?

What about a feather-and-fan afghan in a chunky yarn?

Here's a nice one. Suri Dream is deliciously soft. The pattern is a free download:

http://www.knitpicks.com/+Lace+1%2c+...D50478220.html

Chunky yarn. Sounds good! I like simple lace patterns that I can work without too much concentration even when I'm distracted (I've got two kids, and I babysit, and my dh is home a lot during the day, so I frequently have to knit through the Family Tornado) without making a mistake!

In MDK there's a nice pattern for a bathmat. I think it's made with two strands of chunky cotton. Looks like it would knit up REALLY quick.

good luck!
