It is very, very cute. But I can't get past the possible copywrite violations. Maybe there aren't any, I don't know copywrite law very well. The painting is clearly a copy of the illustrations and is meant to be interpreted as such. Just doesn't feel right to me.

I just knew someone would bring this up, and thank for bringing it up
... if you look at the auction, it says it is an "inspiration" from the story... there is a "1" instead of a "one", "2" instead of a "two" and the fish are not painted exactly the same as the book pictures. Besides, it would be kinda hard to get an exact copy huh?
I am very knowledgeable about copywrite laws, etc as I have an attorney as a best friend
There is nothing wrong with it, but diapers made and sold with "nemo" or "toy story" fabric is not ok

So thats why I can't find a Buz or Woody Diaper anymore. I'll quit looking or just have to buy the fabric at Walmart and find someone who wants to be my friend and sew it up for me.

How old is that book anyway? Might it be in public domain by now? Anyway, I hardly think WAHMs who are eeking out a living should be held to stringent standards regarding this kind of business. It's not like Babybloomrs is mass producing Suess rip offs, KWIM? It's one diaper... an adorable summer show-off diaper at that!

I'm pretty sure something only needs to be changed a little bit to avoid copywrite infringement and it looks to me like she has done that.

All I can say is THOSE ARE FREAKIN ADORABLE!!!!!! To see my babe running around in one of those sets... with a cute t-shirt or dress to match... oh my, I would be the talk of the town. People would stop me in the mall and say how cute it was.

I tell you.... Art like that should never slip through the cracks.

That's what I was thinking.

I'm not so sure about that. I don't think things like changing "one" to "1" are enough to establish originality, but I think she clearly isn't intending to pass this off as an original design, I think she is clearly paying homage to Dr. Seuss and his One Fish Two Fish book here. It comes with the book, for goodness sake. I think that if this item is free of copyright entanglements then it's because of the amount of time that has elapsed.

Seuss is so special to me.... and it just brings that picture of somebody reading to a child, and a 4 year old having a book memorized... you know... those special moments. Anything seuss is just special to me. My MIL is a reading recovery specialist, and anytime I see something Dr.Seuss for her classroom, I buy it. I got each of her grandbabies a Seuss dish set too.... as a tribute to her.

I also like the other diaper sets she has. The monkey one.... OMG, that is amazing! This mama is very talented. I've seen good things posted here about the fit of her diapers too... it's so tempting to buy them for my next little one. This is such a slow time of year for wahms, though. Business slows down for all of us, so our spending has to be shaved off. Maybe once the slump is over she will have more up and I can get some then.
