Oh no! Daycare is full!

I need to find a summer job and the perfect possible temp job just came along! Pays well and is expected to last up to 30 days, possibly a little while longer. Just working 2 weeks will cover my expenses for the rest of the summer. (working the full 4 weeks would mean we go on a nice vacation or I pay off the credit cards entirely!) I have a good chance at getting the job. Problem is, I called dd's daycare which I had to pull her out of since I cant afford it when not working and they actually have a waiting list! The only thing I can think of is hiring someone to drive her to her daycare that she attends while I'm at school but that's an hour away in the opposite direction and who would I get to do it? This is one of the times being a single mom sucks!

Oh. I'm so sorry. What about another local daycare or some kind of summer program? I'm sure you haven't thought of either of those things. Duh. I hope it works out!
Oh, geez. I hope it works out, too. Since she's been to that daycare before, and you are looking for such a short window, perhaps there's a way they could make it work for you? I know my daycare often does arrangements like that for people (makes for some odd and very strict drop-off/pick-up times, though!)

All the daycares in my area have humongous waiting lists. If I couldn't afford to pay for daycare/didn't need it for some reason, I would be very stressed, worrying about what I would do when I needed/could pay for daycare again.
Oh daycare nightmares are the worst. We just got off an 18 month wait list we've been on since a year before we moved here, sheesh. In the interim I was freaking out and eventually found a babysitter/nanny type person who came to my house. I was looking for home daycares (in their homes) when no centres worked out within a year of the waitlist, and just sort of found her. Is there any sort of childcare referral number you can call in your area for ideas of alternative/short-term providers.

Good luck!

Nope, but i'm meeting up with several MDC mama's this weekend and if I get the job maybe one of them might want to make a little extra cash

I don't know your daughter, so I don't know if it would be something that she'd be interested in, but have you looked into maybe a summer 'day-camp' kind of day care. I know a lot of the school districts in the places I've lived have run something like that during the summer, and they can be pretty nice. My goddaughter is in one here when she stays with us -- they have crafts and swimming lessons and cook outs and things, and she really likes it. It's hosted at one of the local elementary schools and run by the district.
Given that its summer, could you find a summer babysitter/nanny? Maybe a college student or older high school student? I know its hard to trust someone you don't know, but with good references? An agency nanny would probably eat all of your profits from the job. How about a teacher who is off for the summer? I know one family that employees a montesouri teacher each summer, someone they met through their church. Would seem like a really good situation for someone like that.
