So I was in Hellmart today returning some gifts dd#1 got for her birthday when my 24 month old woke up and we discovered her diaper had leaked. I took her into the bathroom and was dismayed to see that there was a long line and that the bathroom was really small, with the changing table squeezed into a corner.
I squeezed through the line and proceeded to get my Emma undressed. Having just been woken up and then stripped down she was understandably cranky and started fussing and fighting me. I told her that she needed to let me take her shirt off b/c it had pee-pee on it, and she got so upset (and cold, I'm sure, being topless and wet) that she hit my arm.

An older woman next to me was standing with her daughter, and when Emma hit my arm the older woman leaned close to Em and said in a really stern voice, "Oh, NOOOO....hitting Mommy? That's very naughty!".

I was so ticked off and frustrated that I looked directly at her and said, "And it's also NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!". : The entire bathroom fell silent and people just looked at me, and I couldn't believe that came out of my mouth!! I'm not one to ever say anything like that to strangers; I bottle it up and get all sarcastic and ranty later on with my husband or friends. But that woman had it coming, don't you think?

I'm sure I'm not the only person here who has ever let our inner voice out in public! Doesn't it feel good? I might just have found my voice!

Go mama! I'm a bit of a big mouth, so I tend to say stuff like that often (and it feels great!)

What was her reaction?

LOL! Good for you! How dare she stick her nose in. And, Hellmart. I've never heard it called that before. Hope you don't mind if I steal that. It's great!

I have done this a few times while being frusterated with situations.

That is great that you found your voice...

I'm one of those people who will scream at a car going too fast in a parking lot...but I probably wouldn't be quick witted enough to say something to someone right next to me.

The lady's reaction was quite funny; she turned to her daughter with wide open eyes and jaw dropped, then kind of shook her head and started talking about sales in the store. Meanwhile, everyone else in the bathroom kind of stared and hurried to finish what they were doing. Maybe they thought I'd snap at them, too? LOL!

I heard "Hellmart" somewhere else online...isn't it appropriate?

Good for you! My husband HATES it when I do that! People are so rude and I just feel a compelling need to teach them manners

OT: I hate Hellmart but I always go. I once had a teeny-bopping teenager cut me off when I was on my way there. I followed him (he was going there too) and when he and his girlfriend decided they'd better get out of the car, my hugely pregnant self bawled him out right there in the parking lot. He told me that I should "learn defensive driving" : I told him that I wouldn't have to drive defensively if he didn't drive offensively, and just the mere fact that he used the term "defensive driving" proved to me that he'd just read the driver's manual lol

Maybe I need to learn some manners. If you meet me in Hellmart and I'm being rude feel free to use your "voice"
