I need help! DS apparently threw one of his Stacinator wool covers in the diaper pail in the midst of a bunch of pee-soaked pre-folds. I have no idea how long it was in there - could have been up to 24 hours. It reeked SO badly when I took it out. I washed it well with Eucalan and hung it out to dry, but the darn thing still smells like wet dog! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/mecry.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="crying"><br>
Any ideas how to get rid of the odor?

You are sure it's not wet sheep you are smelling? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1"><br>
If you are sure it's pee smell, then I'd probably wash it in Eucalan again, letting it soak a good 15 minutes, squeeze out the water, roll it in towel, and hang it outside in the shade again to dry. Wait 'till it's dry to sniff it.

In my experience wet wool does smell like wet dog :LOL Let it dry for a few days and see if it still smells. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

Does it still smell when dry? I hope that resolved it.

Yep, it still smelled when dry. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"><br>
I rewashed it again and let it sit in the Eucalan for awhile like Holly recommended. It's hanging out right now, so hopefully this time it will be cleared up once it's dry.

I really love the smell of Flicker-N_Suds WOW wool wash soap bars. The best smell! HOpefully the eucalan is doing the trick though!

This has happened to me before. I had to hand wash it with Sensiclean, then I had to relanolize.
