*groan*

But I did LOL at it...

I have a very twisted sense of humour....

I do think Ralphie boy needs to lay off the beer a little.

Oh yeah, It's against the UA to call people names, even though the person needs the 12 step intervention programme.

I have just deleted two posts that contained namecalling.

You cannot call people names. Period. Please refrain from doing so.

Pandorra, I admit, i sort of laughed about it too--but from a that would have been funny if we were all standing around a bar drinking--but from a government big wig!!
His big defence was that Belinda roasted him ages ago while she was a conservative, but I'm guessing she didn't comment on any of his bed partners!

I feel sorry for Belinda actually, I can't believe she hasn't thown in the towel and dropped out of public life.

I think it's funny. But I don't really take Ralph too seriously. Did anyone see him on Rick Mercer Report?

I'm not quite sure how sorry to feel for Belinda. It wasn't until after the dog comment that I learned how often politicians take stabs like that at each other in Question Period. After reading a bit of what Deborah Gray (sp?) has said about it, I'm torn between wanting to discourage that to encourage women to enter and stay in politics, and thinking that if you treat women as different (ie, you can't insult them like you can the men), that's not helpful either.

Yes but you can roast someone without being sexist. Women are not in danger of being treated with kid gloves in parliament.

Yeah, it was a roast but that was just a little over the top and kind of grade school sexual. If he'd made a comment about dog fights or something that may be one thing but "She's only ever had one conservative bone in her body" It's just sort of icky.

Since when do you follow Canadian politics?

In the past 15 years or so, I cannot recall this kind of sick joke made towards a man. Nor, for that matter, in my four years of Canadian political history.

See, it not only offended me in its misogyny, but also offended my comic sensibilities because I didn't think it was funny at all.

Meh. I'm a big fan of that type of humor. It gets old fast but if it's the only such joke made at the roast it's funny.

In terms of misogyny I'm not sold. He made a sex joke. I've made similar jokes about guys and sex. Is that also misogynistic?

Maybe if it was an isolated incident, but its not. It's all about context.
