We used to be such an active group! Let's update!
Ori is great! Not walking yet but he just started to stand last week so I'm sure it isn't far away! He is super verbal and has 22 words already! He eats everything in sight and still nurses thre or four times a day.

So how is your big toddler doing?

I was thinking of posting the same thing. I knew that there had to be more of us.
Well Makayla isn't really talking, but she's running around and climbing. She's still nursing several times a day and night, but she also eats a lot.

anyway he is all over the place and climbing. he talks a bit, but not much. maybe 5 words or so. signing is really taking off the last couple of weeks though I need to do more with it (he signs more words than he says I think)

yay! we're late-feb04, hope that's ok. Ryan's climbing, lordy, does he climb. Not many words - I'm thinking he knows dada, all-done (ah-dah), mama, and more. He signs and is trying to run. He is dying to play in the toilet.

I haven't posted very often, but it's fun to hear what other March04 babies are doing, so I'll go. DS is very physical -- he's been walking for months and spends a good part of every day running, climbing, playing on a jungle gym, flopping around on the bed, etc. He doesn't have any real spoken words other than mama and dada but he has 3 signs that he gets a lot of mileage from (all done, more, nursing) and he repeats sounds and seems like he'll be talking any day. He is still nursing a lot day and night. He only has four teeth and it seems like he is always teething. He is obsessed with all things cleaning and maintenance -- the vacuum, mops, brooms, gardening tools, rakes, lawn mower, etc. He is also really into trucks, buses, trains, and airplanes -- he loves to point out any that he sees while we are out -- this is a very good thing because it means he tolerates his carseat and jogging stroller much better than he used to.

DS is physical. He climbs on the couches and at the playground (a little scary at times). He has seven teeth. He only says Mama and DaDa, but points to everything. I don't think he really comprehends what he is pointing at...just likes to point. He flushes the toilet and tries to play in it too. He throws food from his highchair (although mainly when he is finished eating). He plays with the hose and likes taking drinks from it. If I try to get something done in another room and close the door, he rushes over and bangs on it to be let in. He is not into TV, maybe watches 10 minutes of Baby Einstein before he goes somewhere else. The garbage can is secreted in the garage now because he will throw everything into it. Oh, and he loves turning the pages of books, especially library books (have to watch those). He still nurses atleast 3-4 times per day. Although lately he seems to dislike the taste-probably due to my pregnancy. Maybe he is self-weaning ...I don't think I am ready for that yet.

I'm here too!! I've often wondered where the March 04 thread was. Ds Elie is still scooting around- actually, he didn't even pull up until 13.5 months! Now he's starting to cruise on furniture. He'll walk one day. His just likes to gab- always has. He says 40 or 50 words now. He also has a mouthful of teeth (16). His big thing this week is when I ask him if he wants this or that (milk, to pee, a banana, etc.) he looks and starts nodding or shaking his head and says "uh-huh, yes!!" or a very nasally "noooo!" It's too cute. He's finally got an appetite for food and still nurses 3-4 times a day.

What kinds of toys do your kids play with at this age? I sometimes feel like we should buy him something, but we don't have much money, and we only want natural fiber toys. So...he plays with books and pots and pans and cups and spoons, and he plays with puzzle pieces shaped like cars and animals.

My Feb 29th guy is a climber! It is getting crazy!! Also running...signs a few words.. verbalizes mama, all gone, papa, and shakes his head no alot! He mimics practically every word out of our mouths lately...(last few weeks) and gets really good approximations of the words. Just hasnt incorporated any of them into his regular vocab.

He really loves playgrounds now, any kind...especially the slides! Most of the time I go with him, but the little ones he likes to go alone, or I sit him halfway down the big slides and "cheat".

He also takes walks SUPER well. Holds our hands and always grabs for a hand if he needs help climbing a curb or on stairs.

Toys: The best toys are always everyday items for us. He also loves to turn the pages in our books, but only "real" pages. He is a very good block stacker now, (has that twist of the wrist) and builds towers just to crash em down.

Also he is very personable. Loves to engage people in public, smiling and "showing" them stuff with his cute little pointer finger.

He is more fun everyday!!!

toys dc likes are matchbox cars (are those natural? I mean, there's very little plastic, but they sure don't seem very natural, lol)

he also loves water play, balls (we made wool balls to look like the earth, fun!), and any of those toys you can drop the ball or car onto a little track and it zips back and forth. I can post some links if you want, but it's easy to find.

also, riding/climbing things are good - this old slide i used to have when i was a kid, a little radio flyer riding toy, very low so it's easy to get on and off. he likes to sit in the fisher price swing outside and run his cars across the tray.

he likes stacking toys - there are several very cool wooden ones at kidssurplus.com

yay! I love toys, have a weakness and tend to buy too much.

Yeah! I am so glad to hear about your babes!
Toys...I tend to like the natural fiber toys too. I am lucky in that I kept a lot of my dd waldorf toys from when she was young. I wish I lived near by...I could lend you some mamalex! Here are some of Ori's favs right now...

Felted ball
a wooden train with wheels on the bottom
finger puppets (they are croqueted, you can make these!)
small wooden blocks
a wood stacking "wave" and rainbow
a fabric globe with ethnic dolls inside, it zips up so lots of fun (the dolls are small, 4 inches tall)
play silks, always lots of play silks
water, water ,water

I just ordered a doll kit from Joys Waldorf Dolls through the MDC co-op that I can't wait to make for him. My dd *still* plays with her dolls so isn't willing to give them up!

Last night I just let ds play in the bathtub for about half an hour- I'm sure he would have stayed longer. I miss "having" to take a bath with him...dh and I were reminiscing on his first baths as a nb- the way he would move his arms and catch his breath when we would move him through the water on his back...I guess I need to have another.

my little Cali is still nursing on demand. she does eat some solids, but she not really interested. she's cut all her molars and will be starting eye teeth soon. she's only been walking about a week, but boy, can she climb!!
she's definitely a tomboy! loves dirt, loves playing rough, and loves playing with her brothers and their toys. she's really good with a light saber!
she doesn't pee after 8pm or before 8am so i never put a diaper on her at night even though she nurses several times during the night. she's been doing that for almost 2 mos.
she's just a sweet, healthy, wonderful little girl and really loves riding in the backpack!
we are finding out though, that "gentle" is not one of her traits!

DD2 is so funny. She tries to talk, in gibberish of course, all serious. lol She is walking trying to climb on furniture etc... She just loves her receiving blankets, it's her loveys. She loves to play close to her sis and be with her sis. And it's the same with dd1, she loves her sis too.

She eats solids and most of it is ppl food and she still nurses about 5-6 times in 24hrs. She loves her milk. She is right now teething. ouch but just before this wkend, she was extending her night sleep and nursing at 8pm then 4-5pm. It felt good to be able to sleep longer.
