I notice that others here don't use shampoo, but does anyone else oil their hair?

I love to use a jojoba/lavender/rosemary mix once a week or so. I put it in, leave it for a day or so (under a bandanna) and my hair is GREAT!

DH loves to use it too (He's growing his hair out).

Anyone else?

Exactly how do you do this? I've wanted to for a while, but I'm too chicken because I don't know what I'm doing.

It conditions hair, same as an avacado treatment would. I find that it helps with flyaways, but still keeps my hair clean and shiny after rinsing out with baking soda. Just as long as I don't use too much oil!
The lavender can also be good for itchy scalps, and it also gives a reason for DH & I to swap scalp massages (Yay).

nak

i oil the length of my hair, keeping well away from my scalp, every other day or so. it only takes about 2 drops of safflower oil (my hair is almost waist length, moderately thick). i mist with distilled water first. i could also use a speck, the merest scraping (with the back of a fingernail), of coconut oil.

if my hair were to seem super thirsty i'd probably use more oil, with gentle heat, for a deep treatment just before washing. coconut milk works well for this.

beware crunchy ends. they can signal over-oiling. don't know how it is, exactly, that this can damage hair, but it can.
