Who LOVES the look they see on people's faces when they see that you use CLOTH DIAPERS (gasp)?

I went to my sister's baby shower today and people just get this "look" on their face when they see my cloth. It's a cross between surprise (because they don't know anyone who would even THINK of using cloth), disgust (because they think it's "icky"), and amazement (because your cloth is gorgeous and they thought it was all pins and rubber pants).

When they ask about the dipes, I love pulling out my diaper bag and showing off my fluff. I always make sure I have my best cloth clean when I know there's a special occasion.

I admit that I like being different. I like going against the grain. I LIKE making people's faces get all screwed up into "that look".

Yep we definitely like sharing...I especially love dressing my babe in Advocacy tees. I don't think people get it most of the time (in public or in general) but hey it has to reach some people I have to guess.

The best was when we were eating in a cafe and a 20 something man had to come over and ask what my son's shirt said :LOL "See my diaper its cloth and its cool!" Hopefully he'll be a convert when he has kids (I sure hope so ).

Interesting you should say....I had a *great* experience this weekend at the hairdresser! So, I'm changing dd and a woman in there looks at my diaper which isn't a Pamper, :roll and starts asking questions! And she says I *wish* * knew about that when I had my babies! Then....she comes back and she asks do I just wash them and the woman with her (seems crunchy) talks about how much better they are b/c she cded b/c her dc had rashes. She didn't have but flats or prefolds. I had a whole captive audience sharing about cding and bfing. :LOL

I to share....well, educate...I guess I can't get away from teaching even though I ran away from the classroom. :LOL

:LOL I agree!!!! I love to advocate whether with advocacy shirts or with showing off my cloth. We were recently in RI visiting family and my dad and I took my girls out to the store for somethign and Sara needed to eat. He said, "well I dont' think there's a good spot to sit in there so do you want to just feed her in the car??" Now my dad is very pro-bf'ing( ) and very comfortable with me NIP but he was just honestly thinking that sitting in the car was easier because there wasn't a good spot to sit down. I said to him that I use Sara as my advocate to get the word out there that bf'ing is the way to go and I would prefer to nurse her in the store. Maybe someone will see us and think about it later when they have kids because they saw how healthy and chubby she is and how easy it is to NIP.
Also on our flight home from RI to NC I was sitting next to a woman who had a 7 month old so we got to talking. She LOVED my fuzzi bunz(because you know that the pressurized air on the plane made Sara poop immediately and copiously!) and even took down the website info for a few cd websites. Her comment was "wow I had no idea cloth diapers could be so cool. I thought they were still flats, pins, and plastic pants that leaked!" I have a convert!!!!!!!!!!!!! :
And of course you knwo that our favorite shirt is "My mommy luvs me. I've got mommy milk in my tum and cloth on my bum!"
That is one of our favorite shirts as well. I love to see people when they see we CD. We were at the zoo yesterday and they have large baby changing area in between the two restroom. (right out where everyone can see) DS was wearing a Emb. VB AIO and soo many commented on his diaper and how cute and unique it was. Ofcourse then i jumpped in with my spill about other reason to cloth diaper, No chemicals on your baby (can you belive one woman was shocked that there are chemicals in sposies ), Landfill issues and on. By the end of it I felt like one of the animals on except we had a crowed around us. 2 people wrote down some websites so maybe we covered a few more bums in cloth. :

I get a kick out of it too. I don't think I've converted anybody yet, but there's still time...

People just look at me like I have two heads whenever I mention I CD. It's like they just don't know what to say. :

I haven't even started CDing yet and I already love it! :LOL I decided to cd before I conceived because of mdc. So, I've been working on buying my stash. (I'm due at the end of June) I love showing each new dipe to my relatives. Pockets confuse them greatly. :LOL My mom still insists that I'll need plastic pants. My aunt keeps grossing out about it, but her face does light up when I pull out a cute new dipe. And yeah...people do give you that "two heads" look. :LOL

LOL

My neighbors try really hard not to make comments. They are pretty accepting. Of course, it's not like cloth is the only crunchy thing we do, so I'm sure that seems more normal than some things they see going on over here.

My neighbors across the street are the ones that totally freak out about cding. It's hilarious. My mom thinks it's "different" but she cd'd my brother back in the days of gerber pf's, pins and rubber pants. :LOL

Yep. LOVE the looks, my dd has a shirt that says "my mom is weirder than your mom" and one on the way that says "saving the world, one cloth diaper at a time"
We get looks and even a few, "wow, I'd have thought you guys could afford disposables" Now that spring is here, I try my hardest to take her out with only the coolest covers on!! I've educated a bunch, don't know yet if I've converted them though.

Yeah, us tooo....I love putting dd in that shirt! I also love telling people about cloth, if someone comes over I make sure there are dipes in the dryer to fold while they are here, it always start a convo. Also, I put her cutest cloth in the diaper bag, so I can show it off.

If only I could convert more people. I have converted one friend but she doesn't have internet now so it's slow going. I have converted many to my slingin' ways but alas, CD'ing just doesn't apeal to most people I know. Not even my cute handknit soakers on dd or luscious covers on ds.Or the VB's or VK aio's
Theres still hope though
