Friday morning I'm heading down to San Francisco for the New Living Expo; I'll be there Friday - Saturday - Sunday.<br><br><br>
And....<br><br><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/bouncy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="bouncy"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/broc1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Broccoli">: The kids are going to their grandma's! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/broc1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Broccoli">: <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/bouncy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="bouncy"><br><br><br>
I need advice! What the heck should I pack?? Particularly for them... in terms of amount of clothing, amounts of toys I should send along...?<br><br>
Here's what I've been planning right now but nothing is packed yet... I'm still looking for advice:<br><br><b>My Bag</b> ~~ My yoga pants and yoga dress (planning to wear that Saturday and Sunday, since the days begin with Yoga classes!), yoga mat and bag (well, I plan to sew the bag at some point today... we'll see how that goes <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> ), pajamas, deodorant, toothbrush / toothpaste, lotion bar (it's mostly a chunk of cocoa butter <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"> ), lip balm, and feminine hygiene products (yes of course AF comes right before I go on a trip <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/eyesroll.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="roll"> )...<br><br><b><br>
The kids' bag</b> ~~ Diapers, Wipes, 2 changes of clothes plus undies and socks for each of them, plus pajamas, toothpaste / toothbrushes, and coats (although it will likely be almost 90 here over the weekend <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">: )...<br><br><br>
I want to make sure I have everything in there that they might need, and that I take everything *I* will need ~ !!<br><br>
If you were going on a 3 day trip what would you take or, what would you absolutely have to not forget to pack for you or the kids--??

I had some dirty thoughts but I don't think they're appropriate for the TAO <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/bag.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Bag">:

no kids? you don't need any clothes....*wink*<br><br><br>
seriously, I would pack some simple mix and match pants/skirts and one nice dress. Maybe a nice candle to set the mood if that interests you. I like to pack some fun food, wine if that would appeal and bubble bath.<br><br>
Have fun!

You ladies have a 1-tack mind... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"> Although you bring up a great point ~ if I'm staying at my bf's place I wouldn't need pajamas! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"><br><br><br><br>
momto l&a ~~ do you mean 2 extra in addition to the 2 I'm already packing for them--??<br><br>
And no, no real favorite toys... at least none they'd be devastated without!<br><br>
brendon ~ I had planned to just wear my yoga clothes Saturday and Sunday... should I plan to change after the classes? <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment"><br><br>
And the 1 nice dress... *hmmm...* I'm not sure I'd need it. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/headscratch.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="headscratch">

Is your bf thinking of taking you out? The reason I suggested the dress is because when I was dating dh, his dad offered to take us out to eat. I was dressed in jeans and a button down, but nothing nice at all. He took us to a very fancy italian restaurant. I felt so uncomfortable, since everyone else was wearind nice dress pants, skirts or dresses. I had a dress packed and would have worn it. His dad said it was a casual place- it was not a casual place. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><br><br>
I don't know about a yoga dress...what is a yoga dress like? I am sure that would be fine!<br><br>
And yes, my mind is in the gutter...second trimester and all. *wink*<br><br>
Have fun! I love getaways!!!

Bring a couple of cute outfits to GO OUT! I might have my first weekend ever away from the kids in June and I plan to be out every single night. In heels. And bring a good book.<br><br>
I don't know how old your kids are, but I'd bring at least 4 outfits. Mine are young and when with my mom very often end up soaked or covered in dirt.<br><br>
(Oh, and bring a light jacket and layers for yourself. SF can be hot one minute and cold and foggy the next.)

Thanks all. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> 4 outfits does sound like a better idea, especially consider how messy my kids tend to get. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> That will also give them an appropriate number of choices...<br><br><br>
My "yoga dress" is a black knit jersey dress that I got from Old Navy, and works spectacularly well with my black yoga pants (which were certified sweatshop free, from American Apparel, to balance out the bad karma from the Old Navy <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"> )! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"><br><br>
And as far as I know, we'll only be going out for tofu and sprout sandwiches at a deli he likes. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"> But that's a good point, there's a semi-upscale restaurant right across from where he lives that has *fabulous* food and is open late, and we might end up going there, so.... yeah I should make sure to pack something "nice." <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

I rarely think about it living in the area because the weather is so changeable. Bring a light sweater or jacket for sure though. It doesn’t get that cold/foggy in the part of the city you will be in, but (light) layering is a good idea. Then again I rarely get cold so you may not want to take my advice. Its nice now but check the weather before you leave.<br><br>
You will be on your feet a lot during the expo so wear comfortable shoes. When I go to tradeshows, I wear whatever comfortable shoes for my outfit and bring a pair of flip-flops for the end of the day.
