in maintaining parental rights.

A bill passed through the state Legislature on Thursday that would require doctors to provide information on the “benefits and risks” of vaccines to parents before administering the procedure.

HB 3016 would make health care providers give parents a copy of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study "Epidemiology and Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases,” as well as information on the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.

The bill passed easily through the Senate, met with modest cheers from about two dozen members of a vaccine choice group who were seated in the gallery. The measure now heads to Gov. Mary Fallin's desk.
It is difficult for me to see how anyone would oppose this bill. Yen tried to put an amendment on it to push mandatory vaccinations.

I can't load the comments. It must be something adblocker-ish.

Yen's comment just . . . . argh!! :splat

Don't give them information. If you do, they might think for themselves and do what they want!

As I've said several times, the main defense of the pro-vaccine seems to be censorship. Only of course they don't call it censorship, they call it avoiding "false balance."

Orwell certainly knew of what he spoke. Although he was mainly worried about government over-reach, corporate over-reach seems to be something he missed.

“In my opinion that will not promote health in Oklahoma," he said. "In fact, I will bet a lot of money that will decrease our measles, mumps, rubella vaccinations rate in this country, and we will soon surpass Arkansas as being in last place.”
Why? Because people might actually start to research vaccines and possibly come to the conclusion that they're not a good fit for their child? God forbid people might learn something about what they're injecting into their babies. Can't have that can we?

Why are those in power so scared of the rest of us having information? Oh yeah, we might start to think for ourselves and make our own decisions. Scary stuff.

also for them - a potential loss of profits from consumers not using their product.

Haven't read the link. I'd be interested to know what the penalty is if HCPs do not do what they're tasked with. I know from breastfeeding rights legislation that laws without repercussions for the offenders are rarely worth much.
