DDCC but I know where you're coming from! During ds2 pregnancy I CRAVED the smell of liquid bleach We spent a lot of time at this indoor playplace during that winter and every time the guy came to clean the snack tables I would almost salivate. I laid down my head on those tables quite a lot then I was worried about deficiency etc but wasn't anemic or anything. The smell craving magically disappeared toward the end of the pregnancy and hasn't returned since.

Pica. You're probably low on iron (since the baby takes all your stores). Have you talked to someone about getting it checked and/or taking a supplement? You don't have to be anemic to have pica. Also, you could have other vitamin deficiencies. Talk to your OB/midwife.

I had it w/ my first pregnancy, and actually had to lick wood a few times at Home Depot. Wood was my thing. I loved walking through warehouses smelling wood, and went to dog parks just to smell wood chips and mulch. My pregnant friend w/ pica craved mop water, but luckily resisted her urges!
