I never knew this forum was here, now I'm excited to find out even MORE about natural healing
: So here's my questions...

I took DS to the dr. this morning b/c he's had a rash on his penis that I KNEW was a yeast infection. We have Nyastatin in the house b/c DH gets the yeasties from time to time (anywhere on his body that's moist and dark, armpit, tushie, :LOL TMI sorry
). So anyway, I was using the Nyastatin on DS for the last week and it seemed to be clearing up, but then his skin got REALLY dry and irritated looking. I was dumb founded. So off to the ped we went. My ped is great and knows I like to treat things more naturally, but he said that the yeast infection looked a little worse than he was hoping and to try a new cream he prescribed. He said the skin was dry b/c since DS is prone to eczema, the Nyastatin dried him out too much. Okay, this is definitely something I can handle. I put the prescription cream on 2x/ day, but what about the other times?? I want to use a healing salve, but I'm not sure which one to go w/?? I've narrowed it down to 3: The Natural Newborn Diaper Defense Cream , Mosaic Moon's Healing Moon Salve , and Northern Essence All Natural Diaper Rash Salve .
Which do you think is the best option?? I need to order pretty soon so that I can get it and start using it.

Also, what products do you use to bathe your babe (or yourself) that's prone to eczema?? DS gets 2 baths/wk, one w/ baby wash, one just water to get the dirties off. I want something that will help soothe his skin and help keep the eczema at bay
Thanks mamas

Well, for starters, I don't use soap on my body except for shampoo (I alternate between 'poo and no 'poo) and hand-soap when I come home from work or get dirty hands. That helps.

I use Shikai's Borage lotion (green bottle at the health food store) which is very soothing when my eczema flares.

But when it's really bad, you need something like petroleum jelly that seals in the moisture and if possible, kills bacteria from scratching or infection. So a few times a year when I flare, I put bacitracin ointment on my eczema before I sleep and in the morning, it's SOOOO much better. Sometimes I do this for a few days.

That being said, what cures my eczema and prevents it from recurring is borage oil. It's just that I can't always remember to take it every day, and so I get it back when I forget. Cutting out eggs and dairy also really helped.

The salve will work well if it has calendula, shea butter, bees wax! Among other things! I would add a few drops of almond oil to his bath. No soap!
Add some probiotics to his diet the Yeasties need to be battled on the inside and shouldnt show up regularly on the outside! I second the Borage oil!
