About 3 hours ago I got hungry. I thought oh, I dont have much time before DH comes home, and then we can go out to eat and I don't have to cook.. I was thinking we could go out for fish or something delightful. Besides, we have nothing in the house... I have been deep cleaning and haven't had time to get out to the grocers.

Lately I have not been very hungry, and it doesn't take more than a few forkfuls to fill me up... so I thought it would be okay to wait. Wrong.

About an hour ago I was crying I was so desperately hungry, and DH got off work a half an hour late. I'm waiting for him to come home now, so I can get to the nearest IHOP and take advantage of their all you can eat enriched powdered pancakes from a box with all the high fructose "maple syrup" i can take. :

Maybe tomorrow we will go out for the fish, LMAO. Does anyone else get this incredibly famished when their baby goes through a growth spurt? I will notice I will be incredibly hungry and crave fresh fish, veggies, fruits, lots of water.. and then notice my fundus increasing and his kicks getting harder. It happens every few weeks and comes on like a hurricane, and then after a few days to a week will stop just as fiercely as it started and my normal appetite will come back and I won't be able to eat much at one sitting again.

OMG yes - although i never connected it with a growth spurt, because when it hits, it is so panic-inducing that taking measurements and making any subsequent sensible deductions is utterly beyond me. slicing cheddar and tomato and slapping it onto sourdough? that's more in line with the outside edge of my capabilities in such moments.

Yes! Unfortunately my stomach is VERY small and only holds so much I can only eat so much in one sitting since my surgery so I have to eat like 10 small meals a day to satisfy myself. I've been so hungry!!

I had a total breakdown on Sunday morning because I was SO HUNGRY and slicing avocado and combining it with the smoked salmon I already had put on the plate was just... beyond me. By the time DH stepped in and tried to do it for me, I was so upset I couldn't eat it (he actually tried to feed me a forkful, and I gagged when he got it near my mouth).

So, yeah, I get that. ;-)

Yep, same here -- hence my "What have you eaten today" thread from last week -- I was absolutely ravenous that day!! Thankfully my appetite has tapered back to normal (well, pregnancy normal, which, like you said, equals being able to eat a few bites of something at a time).

But if I got hungry 3 hours before DH was due to come home, no way would I wait that long, even if I wasn't pregnant! That's about how often I get hungry normally, so I probably would have had something small (an apple and a slice of cheese or something) to tide me over -- if I tried to wait 3 hours after I started feeling hungry I'd be liable to have tipped into a deranged state by the time eatin' time came around. :

I cannot go more than 2 hours without eating and on top of it have been advised to follow an 1800 cal diet to attempt to control my GD before they put me on insulin. I am a raving starving lunatic and am about to accost the dietician tomorrow :

ohmygosh, I wish I could eat for you ladies and have it take away your hunger OR you could just eat for me . I have been trying to intake the upper spectrum of the recommended protein for a twin pregnancy (around 150 grams), and HOLY MAMA I feel like a stuffed turkey. Everything I have put into my pie hole for the past two days has had protein in it. I am not getting nearly enough veggies or fruit as I like, and I am so darn full = uncomfortable on top of already having a big belly (today I got my first comment of, 'Oh, any day now, eh?' Ummmm... no... how about the end of April?!!!)
I got so darn sick of this protein struggle today that I ate a half of a pint of Ben and Jerry's at work just to spite it all (but it contained 14 grams of protein!) :

So please please please enjoy being hungry! I wish I were hungry enough to eat what I am *supposed to* and still enjoy it! I feel like this:

I can't believe it took me a week and a half to figure this out....

Since I've gone to my new schedule (6a-2p), I've been thinking that I can wait until I get home to eat lunch. I have something small and I feel fine.....and then 1/2 way home I do NOT feel fine at all. By the time I get home (with a 3 year old in tow), I'm about to collapse. Seriously...A WEEK AND A HALF I kept doing this!!!! Finally yesterday I brought lunch and ate it at noon. Guess what....I felt SUPER. Imagine that

During my last pregnancy I was student teaching -- I had a kindergarten assignment, so my only break from 8a-2p was at 10:30. The first week, I tried to wait until 2 to eat lunch and was the same as you -- on the verge of collapse by the time I got home. So I started eating my whole lunch at 10:30, and although I felt a little odd the first couple of days, the improvement in my mood and energy was well worth it.

Low blood sugar + pregnant lady = potential for baaaaaad stuff to happen

You ladies shoulda seen me at IHOP. I was getting stares by some old lady who thought I was a VILE YOUNG WOMAN.

Thats what her eyes said.

I was hovering over my plate forking it in, like I couldn't get enough. I almost had a breakdown when she didn't bring me my next plate of pancakes fast enough. I finished the eggs, the hash browns, and the first set of pancakes and was STILL HUNGRY!

God, this sounds good to eat again tonight. I wish they weren't such horrible food items!
