It's early Monday morning, the beginning of the 1st week I've known I'm pg & not been away on our trip. So I'm sitting here thinking about all the things I should do today... call the insurance company, find out my birth options, start a list of things I should keep an eye out for on Craigslist, like infant car seat, newborn diaper covers, etc..... & it just hits me all over again. OMG I'M PREGNANT & GOING TO HAVE A TINY NEW BABY!!! And I start thinking about things like birth announcements & giant maternity clothes & newborn socks & gowns and and and then my head spins with nervous excitement!!

HAHAHA, I know I have a goooood long time to prepare everything, but it's crazy how very much we are all going to DO & feel & experience in the next 9+ months. I think my shock is actually slowly morphing into excitement.

How are you all feeling about things? Have you already written an 82 page 'To Do' list? Or keeping the excitement quiet until the 2nd trimester? Or both? Or are you still so shocked that you are still sitting there staring at your pg test waiting to realize that you hallucinated the 2nd line all along?? (like I have)

I know what you mean! I feel like I have so much to do. With dd, I found out I was pg in Sept. and was due in May, and it felt like it was SO far away. But this time December seems so soon! Like tomorrow. Maybe it just seems that way because this time I'm due in the same year that I conceived, but it just seems like no time at all.

We've been eating, sleeping, and breathing babies for over a year in preparation for ttc (which wasn't supposed to start until June - oops!), so I've actually had a to-do list for quite a while. I already purchased all of the maternity clothes I will need from eBay, just need to get some Bella Bands in the next month or so. I interviewed midwives in March and chose one the same day we got our , scheduled our first mw appt for 8 weeks, ordered the Hypnobabies home study course, contacted the local prenatal yoga teacher about classes, found a chiropractor, and bought a Humanity Family Bed as I was already in desparate need of a body pillow.

Now that I got all of that out of the way, the only thing to do is to wait for my appt times to come (mw and chiropractor), and keep myself busy finishing up my job (done May 17th), packing for our move in June, preparing to take a road trip in June, and trying to make the time pass somewhat quickly.

ETA: You asked about how we're feeling - even despite all this preparation, I'm still in shock. I do not feel the least bit pg (despite a myriad of symptoms) and feel like a bit of a liar when we announce our pg to people, even though I got about 10 s and AF has been absent.

Oops, meant to include a link to that one, here you go: http://www.humanityinfantandherbal.c...familybed.html

The body pillow fits into a "pocket" for use as a combination guard rail/mattress pad, but is also heavenly on its own

All the stuff I have to do isn't really 'baby' stuff. DH has to have help with his resume, we need to be applying for jobs and getting ready to move the moment we find something because we CANNOT stay in this house. It was all stuff we'd have to do anyway, but it's more urgent with the babe coming. So I'm more in panic-mode than in planning mode.

Luckily, there isn't TOO much we need for this little one. I was saving all my baby stuff to give to a friend of mine who is due in 8 weeks or so, but she hasn't picked it up yet -- luckily for me! I need a new sling, since I shrunk post-pregnancy and don't fit my old one, and some more diapers and a lighter toddler stroller. It's hard to panic over 3 little things.

I think I'm in denial-I need maternity clothes, that's just because I'm already feeling the pants get tight-but everything else seems like it's so early... Maybe because I'm only 5 weeks but it hasn't hit me yet-we need to buy stuff huh? :

Thank you so much Mamabearsoblessed!!:

So yesterday I made our first official purchases for this baby. I got some super cute gowns, fuzzy green pjs & tiny socks. Heeeee. And I scoped out the nearest consignment stores for maternity clothes! I had borrowed most of mine for my last pg so I don't have many stocked up. There was some cute stuff out there! And DH & I both noticed that my belly has poked out!! There is definitely something going on down there!

So have any of you all bought any teeny gowns, or started fondling your teeny saved up baby clothes?: Is the shock wearing off yet? Are you excited to start wearing clothing shaped like a gigantic triangle??

We just bought our first little sleeper yesterday. I CANNOT belive how tiny it is -- it's the size of one of my son's onesies!

I started shopping a little here and there. A sleeper, a cute onesie, etc.. There's a good consignment shop in town that has a lot of baby, baby, baby. I just don't want all gender neutral so my plan is to take a chunk of money and buy girl and boy in late November, then return what I don't need once the baby is born.

I bought a new onesie that says, "Tax Deduction" because that's one one of our friends said when they found out we'd deliver in Nov/Dec! We couldn't believe it, but then I found the onesie and HAD to have it.

I am still in denial and disbelief, and I'm afraid of getting too excited. I really think I will end up waiting until I hit the 13 week mark before I buy anything for baby. Of course, I will need new clothes by then. But I'm really afraid of buying and then having to put it away. After all I went through TTC and then to have it happen on a natural cycle, it's very hard to "just know" that everything is working properly.
That's the long answer.

The short answer is: we bought a onesie the weekend we found out we were pregnant, because we were at Disney and we knew we would always remember that moment. A friend gave us a bouncy seat and a few soft blocks. Other than those things and few books, we have nothing purchased and no lists...and I'm a couple days shy of 8 weeks.

I hear ya! I want to start shopping for the bulk of the stuff to spread the damage out over several months. But even though we did try for this baby, I am not sure if I will TTC again if this ends in miscarriage.

I am SO sick and have been for nearly 5 weeks now. The family is really suffering just these past three weeks. If I make it (sick all the way) to something like 14 weeks and then miscarry, I don't know as I am strong enough to do this again. Even if I m/c tomorrow, I am not sure I could do this over again. It's that hard. Ugh!

I will maybe begin thinking about buying a few baby winter clothes when I am 38 - 39 weeks along. Oh, and I guess I will have to get the house tidied up between now and December so I don't scare the midwife too much :

I am also afraid to buy anything until after the first trimester is over. But- I know I need some baby clothes b/c my babies were born in June. Not so for this little one. Oh! I need a new sling and some maternity clothes and I do want to get some more diapers. And a carseat. I think that's it.

I have so much to do! We got rid of nearly every baby thing a few months ago! I've already bought some newborn cloth diapers! Don't tell my DH!

Oh, this post made me laugh in such a happy giddy way. I'm holding off on shopping and hoping I can borrow the big stuff second hand from friends. I have, however, already picked out a girl name and a boy name, started taking midwife suggestions, considered the best way to set up a college fund and established a set of ground rules for tv watching, swearing, dating and junk food that should take the kid well to the age of 18.
