I'm starting to get a bit concerned about my daughter's pooping.

When she was just a newborn she pooped with every feeding, now she goes 7-10 days without pooping. She has plenty of wet diapers so I know she is feeding enough. I'm pretty sure I have read that it is normal for a b/f baby to poo once a week.

I guess I'm just looking to hear that it is or isn't normal.

Yes, I've heard and read that this is normal. Can't wait until my Elena gets that memo, lol.

yup- it's normal. Just make sure to be home on that 7th or 10th day! What a blow out Their little bodies become so efficient at taking everything they need from the breastmilk, not as much waste is left. That is a very basic, layperson explanation I heard from a LC when my ds1 was small.

my baby does not poop much at all! sometimes every other day, sometimes just 1-2 times a week and a few times it has been 6-7 days apart. i talked to a ped and a homeopathic md and both looked at her and said she is fine and very healthy....go figure!!

It's normal. DS has never gone longer than a couple of days...usually I can expect one poop a day. If he misses one or two...then I know that I'm in for it.

My DS also goes 6-8 days in between poops. I've always been told that it is "normal" for bf'ing baby....however, he is now eating (some) solids (he is 8 months old) and he is not pooping any more often. I'm pretty sure at some point he should poop more frequently, eh? Hopefully it will all even out eventually....

My littlest guy is a once-a-week pooper. Even as a newborn he never really pooped after every feeding or even every day. Very different from my first son, who was like a Textbook Baby. Seriously.. so predictable. He would poop approximately 20 minutes after every feeding until about the time he started solids.

Our ped. said he once had a breastfed baby go 22 days without pooping. He wasn't concerned, but said he would be very worried if the babe was ff.

while it is totally normal to go up to a month w/o pooping as a bf baby, if you notice other signs (rash, excema, gas) along with the lack of poop, it could be a food sensitivity.

this is not to bring on concern, b/c it sounds like you baby is just fine, but if you notice any of these other symptoms, you may want to look at your diet and consider eliminating dairy (most common allergen) or whatever seems to escalate the symtoms for a few weeks and see what happens.

my dd did not poop for 16 days once, but she also have nasty gas and a rash, so i cut out dairy, and she started pooping every 1-2 days. now she is 5 mos and back to once a week or so. so, who knows!

hmm..... I am having this problem too. dd is just 1 week old today and hasnt pooped in two days. I thought NBs went more often. She does have terrible smelling gas and lots of it. I eat very, very little dairy but maybe I should look into other foods. Thanks

My babe did the same thing, used to poop every day but then switched to once a week or every 10-14 days. now that she's on solids, it's back to once a day!
