How do you know a tube is blocked? When I had a HSG they were checking to see if my tubes were open or blocked and the Dr. said if they were blocked sometimes the pressure of them injecting the fluid will open them. Just a thought, but it wont work if that how you discovered a blocked tube.

My left tube is blocked, I was schedualed to have it opened. My doctor also said that there is a chance that when they did the x-ray that it may have just been in spasms. When I had my last IUI they had me lie on my right side since that is the unblocked side.
I hope this helps.

When I started doing IUI's the first thing my RE did was sent me for an hsg. I laughed and thought she was crazy, but turns out that I had one blocked tube. We only did IUI's when the follicle was growing on my unblocked side (we were using donor sperm and there was no sense to us in spending thousands of dollars when I was ovulating on the blocked side). We literally spent FOURTEEN (!!!!!) months waiting for my unblocked side to grow a follicle. For whatever reason, my body does not like to ovulate on one side. Fourteen months because I have 42 day cycles and we did a bunch of unmedicated cycles and 3 clomid cycles. We also did a lap to try to unblock the tube, but my RE was unsuccessful. She thinks it was a congenital defect and they also didn't have small enough instruments in the OR. I was miffed about that one, believe me!! Finally, we moved on to injectibles (Gonal F) and I got pg on my first injectible cycle. Three weeks later it felt as if somebody was stabbing me and bright red blood was gushing out of me. Turns out a rogue sperm made it through the blockage, found the ONE egg on my blocked side and the little embryo couldn't get out of my tube. I had an emergency lap to remove the tube.....and the baby. It was literally one of the worst days of my life.

Honestly, I don't know what advice to give you on how to proceed, but definitely discuss the chance of an ectopic with your doctor. Good luck!
