at night at least. DD has soaked through everything. Just when I think I've found something, after a few weeks, she soaks it too. She nurses at least 4 times a night. I've had her in disposables for the past week while I searched for my last try. Tonight she is in a nighty newt w/ an Aristocrat soaker. I didn't add a doubler. Hopefully it wasn't necessary. I sure hope it works. I just can't handle changing her clothes and sheets every morning at 4am!!!

Curran nurses all night and is sopping wet when I change him. I usually change him at midnight and agian at either 4am or right when we wake up between 6-7. I have found that he's just going to be soaked, unless I change him every hour or two all night. But if I put on a ME cover I eliminate most of the leaks. He's growing out of the m/l and if he is in one of those, he leaks. If I put the large on him, there are no leaks.

I'm too stubborn to buy disposies, is that bad?

Overnight was always the biggest PITA for me! Could you tell us what you use and what you have to choose from and we can go from there, oh, and how long baby sleeps at a stretch and how often you change throughout the night?

For me, my son slept 11-12 hours straight so I didn't wake him to change him. I'd use something like a hemp fitted with 2 joeybunz inside the fitted, all inside a crat to do the trick for that length of time. I have other systems that have worked too, btw.

If you're changing her throughout the night, then what you just mentioned, maybe with a doubler, should work for a nice stretch of time........

Right now I'm looking for something that will go 11-12 hours, and that breathes. I don't usually change her at night unless she leaks. Which is always. Here is what I have tried:

Fuzzi Bunz-2-3 jb's, hemp prefolds-soaked and leak

All of these I have tried w/ numerous wool covers, but I have compression problems. Staciantor, mom-and-me wooly dream, Bumpy, Bizzy B Hive. I've also tried Stacinator So Simple, but always have leaks out the legs and stomache. ME airflows usually work, but leave terrible red marks on dd legs.

hemp cuddlebuns w/ 2 joey bunz

Cricketts hemp fitted w/ doubler, and additonal hemp doubler

Premium cpf w/ infant 8 ply as doubler

Nighttime weight hemp cuddlebuns w/ nighttime deluxe hemp doubler, and 1 joey w/ an Aristocrat-this worked the longest 1 week, but now it is soaking through

You sound like you're just about there! Many of those diaper combos you listed should do the trick under a crat or airflow. Could your crat possibly need to be lanolized by now? I could never do pocket dipes overnight. When I do pf's it is usually hemp prefolds and then an additional pf trifolded inside so it lays along the middle panel. Have you tried ME's other cover-the Rikki wrap? I just traded for two of those and can now extole the virtues of those also (I ME covers). I don't think you'd get the red legs with a Rikki. There are only 3 wool covers that ever worked overnight for Ian-crat, bumpy wool, and a fuller cut 2 layer serged phunkymama. Also, have you adjusted the leg setting to the next larger size on the AF? That might look like it is gapping which you'd think would allow for a leak, but it will most likely still not leak and will hopefully avoid the red leg marks.

Wow... I don't feel so bad now.

My DD is 7 months and we have JUST figured out a nighttime system. Up until a week or two ago, she's woken up when she feels wet (or started squirming and woke ME up), so I figured pocket diapers would be the ticket. We had problems with inadequate stuffing and repelling fleece leaving us with a wet bed way too often.

For a time I just gave up and changed her 3-4 times/night. Premium prefold and wool soaker or sugarpeas wool cover held for a couple hours then.

Now we use a hemp Cuddlebuns (it's pretty heavy-weight) with its accompanying doubler, plus another fleece-topped doubler. All this under an LTK soaker. She's soaked in the morning (and the diaper weighs 3#, I swear) but no leaks, her jammies are dry, etc.

She nurses several times at night (I assume... I wake up and she's on the other side of me, or my shirt's hiked up) and sleeps pretty hard... of course I'd change her if she showed any sign of being uncomfortable.

Thanks mammas! You've got me on a mission. I will make this work.LOL If it doesn't work, I guess I'll try one of the doublers. I actually just washed and lanolized the cover. It worked one night, and then the next I had wet sheets. I don't think it's the cover. When I first started useing the nighttime cb it was only half wet. Now she soaks right through it. I think she's just peeing more!!!

FB's work for us. I already had prefolds and katies kisses doublers so I stuff with a prefold and add a doubler and they never leak.

as much as this may sound like a pita, if it was me i'd change during the night at least once if not more. course i'm anal about diapers and still will change at night if ds goes potty, and he tends to sleep more soundly with a clean dry diaper. i hope you find a system that works for you.

we had to change at night for many months.
what i ended up using was a samuel's soaker with a hemp doubler in it and a large joey bunz laid beneath it. i've used a SP windpro, the stacinator deluxe and some homemade wool wraps without any leaks.
if the diapers are LEAKING, then your cover is too loose or you've overstuffed and made a gap for pee to run out. if it is WICKING, you need to lanolize your wool or rewaterproof the PUL.

Thanks everyone! This morning around 5 am she had a little moisture coming through the cover, but was dry! I think I'll add the doubler tonight, and relanolize. I have tried changing her before, but if she has to be changed it takes forever to get her back to sleep.

I use a Firefly Sleeptight with an additional Darling Diapers nighttime doubler and then an aristocrat/sugarpea wool/patchworkpixie wool/ME airflow OR a Luke's Drawers goodnight kiss with an extra smjae doubler folding in.

Nothing pocket worked for us at night with THREE hemp contour smjae doublers...

My dd sleeps 13-14 hrs at night and the only thing I have found to work was a crats wool cover. Just make sure there is enough in it to soak up all the pee. The best that worked for us was a premium prefold with an infant as a doubler, and you can try folding it the other way so all the thick stuff is in the middle where girls pee. Since i switched to this I haven't had one leak. Nothing else worked. Hope you get it figured out I know it isn't any fun to have dd wake up soaked and unhappy.

Nothing worked for us either. Pockets left nasty red marks and leaked. And various other combos invariably leaked or had to be changed frequently. Now what has worked is a nighty newts with a jb put inside the center panel then I line the whole thing with microfleece that I got at Jo-Ann's and wrap the whole thing in an Aristocrat. The dipe and jb are soaked in the a.m., fleece is dry and the wool is cool to the touch but dry. HTH

I have a heavy wetter at night and like to use breathable stuff as well, and have FINALLY found the one thing that made a HUGE difference: WOOL LINERS! I put one underneath whatever I normally use (I can actually use a little less than normal), and my DS has slept for 12 hours straight with no wicking! WOO HOO! I currently use fleece pocket diapers or hemp + wool at night, and was still having moist pjs in the morning. No more! I use a CPF or hemp prefold with a doubler and a wool liner, and it works SO well.

Try them, try them!

I've got an all night nurser and just change at night a few times- he wakes me up to nurse anyway or if he feels wet. Now at 19 months he is pretty much dry (though he nurses alot a night) and I take him to the potty in the morning- but when he's got a cold or is sick he gets wet diapers in the night again.

I can't really do that with my baby. He wakes up fully if I change him at night, and does not fall back to sleep very easily. And I don't either! Still using sposies at night, so we can sleep! (He nurses at night, but he seems to manage to do it in his sleep -- and I don't wake up much anymore, either, since he has gotten to where he can grab my boob and stuff it in his mouth by himself pretty much, or maybe I sense he's trying and help him in a semi-waking state.)
