right now I have 2L of milk on the stove in a stainless pot. Can I leave it in the pot to sit...should I switch it to a glass bowl, or does it matter?? I have no yogurt-making gizmo- I assume that's okay??

ETA: Hold up, does it need to be kept warm while it sits?? Can I just wrap a towel around and put it in an off oven, or should I put the oven on to low??

I have no idea what I'm doing

It needs to be kept warm while it sits, and you can do it right in the pot if you want. Wrapping it up in a towel and putting it in an off oven should work- the oven set to low might be too hot and kill off the good germies.
