So I bought the new issue of Glamour today (shush, it's one of my guilty pleasures
) and I was reading this story about sex slavery in Cambodia. It got me thinking how Glamour, for a girly fashion-y sorta mag, actually does a LOT of human rights articles, that are usually very well written. I know they've done several articles about FGM in the past. So...it got me thinking...WHY has this very progressive mag never done an article about RIC?

So I wrote them a letter.
I encourage everyone else to do the same. What better place for an article refuting the myths of RIC than a mainstream mag for women? Especially with the sex angle...I dunno, maybe tomorrow this'll be one of those "it seemed like a good idea at the time" things
but if you are so inclined, a letter urging them to take aim at RIC might be a good mini-activism thing.

I would expect a faux-sophisticate 'Sex in the City' opinion from the Glamour editorial staff; when I had my subscription any woman with reservations about unrestricted abortion, for example, was treated as an ignorant rube.

It's a hostile little rag, imho, if you reach beyond any topics of immediate interest to women- or THEIR conception of such. Personally I think the sexual dysfunction circumcision causes of more than adequate interest to women, but what would admitting THAT do to their circulation?

Won't happen. But good luck trying, raising the issue can only help raise social consciousness. If you do it, I'd focus on selling them on better Euro-sex or something; the rights of men or (male) children just don't figure much to them, from what I can suss.
