Still trying to figure out this whole cloth diapering thing before the baby comes... it sure is addictive, once I start reading and dreaming about the different options I can't stop!

Anyway, I was thinking about the whole fitteds vs. prefolds. I'm still gonna go with the prefolds and probably make a few fitteds if I can, but I was considering making an initial investment in one size diapers so the baby can just grow into them rather than me replacing fitteds. Also if I want my dh to do any dipe changes at all I need to have a few fitted style stuff on hand because I know he'll freak out over prefolds.

So what do you think about these muttaqin baby one sizes? Do they snap small enough to fit a newborn? Are they too bulky for that age? I'm still going to have to use a cover, right?

sorry some of these questions might seem dumb but I'm new and confused!

I haven't had much success with OS on newborns. However, I haven't cloth diapered a newborn in 4 years, so I'm sure there are new OS diapers on the market that would fit great. I have a couple of Mutts NB fitteds for our next baby, and they look awesome
. So far the only OS fitteds I am adding to our collection are Pinheads, so I'm curious to see what anyone else has to say about the Mutts OS!

I don't hear of many people having great luck with a OS dipe with a newborn...I think it's hard to get them to be small enough that you don't end up with a poo blowout or a major leak...but hopefully there will be some suggestions of a good type of OS that does work with a newborn (I'd love to hear them since I plan to have at least one more baby)....My son is 5 months old and 13 lbs and I tried a few different OS dipes just recently and most of them were too big even at the smallest setting. The Bum Genius did work though as far as sizing. Other than that, I don't know. The Kissaluvs size 0 fitteds are excellent as far as fitting a newborn but they wouldn't last very long since they are tiny so I wouldn't buy a whole lot of them (and they aren't the most absorbant either....so maybe someone else can suggest a different NB fitted that works better....the Kissaluv just fits really well and contains poo really well)...but as far as OS fitting a NB....the only one I can think of is a Bum Genius...but I'm sure there will be other suggestions posted for you that will work! Good luck finding something!

The motherease one-size worked pretty well with my one week old, but he was a big newborn (9-9). It wouldn't have fit with him much smaller, though, it was on the smallest setting. No blowouts at all. They are bulky but that doesn't bother me at this stage.

Personally I didn't like my mutt OS on NBs. The crotch was alittle too wide. You can do it, but they're very bulky. I bought NB diapers and then at around 10-12 lbs I started using the Mutt OS.

Maybe just do prefolds trifolded in a cover until baby puts on a little weight then go with One Size dipes.
