Hi there

Not sure how long I will be here but I do have twins due in January and so I may have to find a pediatrician here. Does anyone know any open-minded ones in the Spokane area? Is there such a thing? Or a naturopath or any other holistic MD or DO who would treat newborns without pushing the vaccination issue, and medications? I have not really found anyone so far. I do homeopathy, and some chiropractic, energy work, body work and some herbs for myself but I may need some kind of relationship with a pediatrician at some point.

Thanks!

My son's ped keeps telling us about a naturopath that she works with... she will send us there if my son's food allergy symptoms stop getting better even with me on an elimination diet...
next time I am there I will get the naturopath's name in writing.. I keep forgetting it!

Ped is pretty supportive of AP and cloth diapers and bf and no circ...
however she has a harder time accepting no vax... even our delayed vax gave her "gray hairs"

Hi Nina! I need your Ped. Our Doc told us today that someone would call CPS on us if Chase went to kindergarden & told people he still sleeps in his Mom & Dads bed!!!!!!!!!!!! He told me it wasn't normal & that it needed to stop asap.

I AM SO DONE WITH HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!

See you tonight

Remember from playgroup that big ol discussion about Dr. Lee?
We see someone else from his practice.. Dr. Genung.
She is an older lady... younger than my grandparents, but older than my mom.
I like her... although she did try to scare me into giving all conor's vax in one day.

YOUR DR IS WHACKED!

Not normal, huh...
that is so funny considering my ob told me that her kids slept in their family bed. Asked us if we had one too.

Rachelle, you should have mooned him!
What a butt, I guess maybe he just does not know.

Nina, I think all most Doctors get ill hearing the no/delayed vax thing! Even my beloved Dr.Sears.

Wow it just is not looking good for Spokane pediatricians. It is frustrating living in a place without good access to holistic care, at least compared to where I was living. Luckily I do phone consultations with my homeopath, which I will also do for the baby, and do have an excellent chiropracter here. Wish I could solve the pediatrician dilemma, if I do need to go to one.

Which midwives would people recommend? I have had problems there, and am still not totally comfortable with the situation, but definitely do not want to go the medicalized route.

Anyhow glad to know there are like-minded people out there...somewhere! I do feel very isolated here, but we are also planning to move back to the Coast so it is like living in limbo, especially being 32 weeks pregnant!

I had a wonderful homebirth experience with Linda Marks (I belive her biz name is Birthright). If you are looking for a hospital birth, then I have heard wonderful things about Sharon Bradley (she is in the Sacred Heart Doctores Building, I went to her before I decided on a homebirth (she only does hospital births) and she was a bit too brisk for me. But I have a girl friend who loved her.

Hi there

Thanks for the reply and that does make me feel better, as I am using Linda, I really like Beth, just do not feel too connected with them though, but I had to switch in mid pregnancy as the midwife I was using would not deliver twins (which it was not in the end!) then would not deliver me as I have a fibroid. I really liked her and we are friends, just was hard to get used to a new midwife. I think I am going to use the Birth Center at Birthright, as it is closer to Sacred Heart and will be mid January, and am way out in the valley, but definitely do not want a hospital experience unless it is a dire emergency, and have heard good things about Birthright. Anyhow think that I am going to stick with them as not a lot of other options. I am going to bring my own herbs and homeopathic remedies as well.

Thanks again!

I liked Linda. She was kind, but very matter of fact...not too touchy feely or too brisk.

I live in the valley too. PM if you want my phone number...it is hard to be in a new place. I am also a moderator of a play group here in in town if you are interested in meeting other Moms.

Hi there

Thanks for the reply, and reassurance. I do feel that I just need someone to deliver my baby, and that they will be excellent at that and very competent, I think switching in mid pregnancy made it difficult.

Thanks for the info on the playgroup, and once I am a Mom I would be interested in joining! Actually am a step-mom now but those kids are older! It has been a huge adjustment moving thats for sure, I got engaged in Nov, then got pregnant, had a miscarriage the end of Feb, moved in March, then got pregnant in April, then got married as planned in June, wow what a year! One thing I do know is this baby is determined to be born!

I've heard good things about Joseph Shaeffer, ARNP / Certified nurse midwife. 444-7801 (north Spokane) I didn't hear about him until after DS arrived.

BTW, I live in North Spokane.

Thanks for the latest info. I have heard good things about him from my hypno-birther too. I am going to stick with my current midwife though as she has also got good referrals.

Anyhow thanks again and 3 weeks (or so!) to go!
