I am so confused. I have never seen anything darker than even the faintest + and my temperatures and even my blood work look normal. It was like that last month too.

I started using them around CD 9 around 4pm every day, and my temperature just dropped from 97.8 yesterday to 97.1 this morning without any notification from my OPK's. We skipped a couple of days on CD 10&11, so I hope we weren't too late with the BD last night.

Do OPKs just not work for some people?

Maybe I just drink too much water and pee too much.

They don't work for me. My LH surge is too low to be detected. I know this because my naturopath had me do a month-long saliva test to check hormone levels.

You also might not have the most sensitive OPKs. You can check peeonastick.com for the sensitivity levels. HTH!

I love peeonastick.com! The "Odyssey" is hilarious!

I'm just using the crummy ones from ebay. I couldn't find my saliva microscope this morning either. Perhaps I should keep looking instead of moping on the internet.

I couldn't get my OPK's to work right until I stopped drinking or peeing for five hours beforehand. I was doing an IUI with donor sperm, and spending money on the whole thing, so I was invested in getting the timing as right as possible. Thus, I tested three times a day, and basically didn't drink anything all day long, and only peed when testing. This is obviously not great for your body (I was super headachey and dehydrated by the end), but did give me an accurate reading, finally.

Good luck!

Have you tried using the ones (I think they are Clear Blue Easy brand) that do a smiley face? They are really expensive, but I don't have much luck with the internet cheapies either, except they've always been right with a BFN on the HPTs!

Ditto - same here. I did get + OPKs and good information once I got dehydrated. Not fun, but it worked...well, I didn't get knocked up, but I knew when I surged!

I was using the ones from early-pregnancy-test.com - internet cheapies.

I am firmly of the belief that OPKs don't work well for people who keep well-hydrated. Rather than restricting fluids, I read them in a relative context (ie getting darker until CD 19, darkest on 20, lighter on 21-23, must have O'ed on 20-21) and in the context of my temp and other signs.

I bet this is my problem! I am water woman and am constantly drinking all day long. My OPKs always follow a pattern (nothing, light, darker, light, nothing), but they are never as dark as the control line, although they do come close.

At least I know I'm not alone in my quest for a definite answer on an OPK!

That's an option, when you're not relying on the OPK to tell you when to inseminate with the very expensive, very frozen, very short-lived anonymous donor sperm.

If you can just keep on doing the BD with the DH (gawd, I hate those terms...) you don't have to worry about it. The rest of us will just sit here and take no more than a sip of water all day.

Are you offended? I am sorry if I offended you. I was just sharing my experience which is based on nothing at all but my experience. Since it's my first month even using the things, who even knows if my method works?

ETA: I hate those terms too. We're not required to use them, though, so you use other ones if you wish.

No, not offended, just wanted to point out that sometimes the dehydration is unavoidable.

Yeah, like, if we're old enough to be having it, shouldn't we be old enough to call it sex???? And Dear Husband, well, don't even get me started....
