My doctor gave me a script for progesterone without testing my hormone levels, she said that everything I told her and from what she saw on my charts it looked like a clasic LPD and progesterone should be a quick fix, she did say if I wanted the testing done she recommended going to a RE. So this cycle I'm going to try progesterone supplementation and next one do the whole baseline testing without any hormones.<br><br>
So she gave me the choice of oral and vaginal, and I chose oral even though she said it had way more side effects. I'm going to try oral one month and switch if I can't take the side effects<br><br>
Anybody BTDT?, is it really that horrible?

im thinking of switching from vag to oral because the vag is really a pain in the butt. there are side effects, but it shouldnt be unmanagable. and the gold standard of lpd testing is 2 endometrial biopsies on 2 different cycles post o, so no thank you for that. you can do the blood tests, but they are iffy. if your chart and your history indicate lpd, i think you are right to treat it.

This will be my first cycle taking it orally after 2 cycles vaginally (one with the pill and one with a gel cream thingee). Thanks Karma, i guess biopsies dont sound a lot of fun and I really hope it doesn't come to that, I thought the blood test was more definite than that.<br><br>
The supositories sounded like a huge pain and kind of a buzzkill but my doctor made it sound like the side effects of hte oral one are really harsh Ill report later as well I should start taking it in 6 days or so.<br><br>

I had to take it orally to keep this pregnancy due to low levels. The pills I were given looked like little pink bullets and they are actually the kind you can take either way.<br><br>
As far as side effects, yes, I could tell a difference once I started them. Very sore boobs, cranky and extremely tired. I was feeling all of those things a little tiny bit before starting, but the progesterone certainly made them 10x worse. Of course, very much worth it.<br><br>
I wish you the very best - I know several people with a lpd that got pg very quickly once on progesterone.

I switched from suppositories to gel because I switched doctors and I am switching from gel to oral because my insurance doesn't cover the gel ($245.00 for 18 doses!). I am nervous about switching to oral because I had very few side effects using it vaginally; just sore nipples.

I dont mind at all Mistymama thank you for the information, nice to know they are bad but not that bad, my doctor did tell me to take it before bed time and make sure I didnt have to drive anywhere afer that, but you are right ti will be worth it thanks for hte good wishes.<br><br>
Thanks nintendork it sounds like you have a good experience with the vaginal one, my insurance doesnt cover it at all I thought It was really expensive at 30$ for 15 pills but I guess it's better that 245.

I've taken the oral before-made me very tired, nauseated (never had m/s in any of pregnancies but the progesterone made me want to puke!) and very sore boobs. It seems like it amplifies all those early pregnancy symptoms.
