Seriously. I have a tea addiction. Right now I have a zillion boxes (of the individual bags, all sorts of herbal, etc.) piled haphazardly on a shelf. Every time I open the upper pantry I have to dodge an avalanche of boxes that rain down upon me. Has anyone else (with tea hoarding issues<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> ) figured out a better way to store/organize their stash??<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">:

We have mostly loose tea, just a couple boxes of tea bags. But all of our loose leaf is stored in pint canning jars. They're a little more vertical than the boxes, and bags could go in there as well so you might not have to stack, which I would not recommend with glass containters because then you really *would* have a head injury. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink">

Do you have a closet that you can put one of those hanging racks in. (Like the hanging shoe racks but they make one for the pantry) My boxes of tea fit perfectly on them.<br><br>
Kind of like <a href="http://www.stacksandstacks.com/html/103505_pantry-organizer-door-ladder.htm" target="_blank">this</a> but they are MUCH cheaper at Walmart or Target.

i take my tea out of the boxes and put them in ziplock sandwich bags. i tear the front of box (with tea name) off and stick it in the front of bag. then i put the bags in a basket in pantry. i can just pull basket out and have quests choose their tea...

I need to do this... my island has a divided drawer that fits tea boxes perfectly, but the loose tea is in bags and a total mess!

We also do this basically, although instead of a basket we put them all in large glass containers with heavy lids (not stacked!)

How about getting some of those extra half shelves so that the tea doesn't have to be piled as high? Like these: <a href="http://www.containerstore.com/browse/Product.jhtml?" target="_blank">http://www.containerstore.com/browse/Product.jhtml?</a><br><br>
Or could you do an over the door rack on a different cupboard door, kind of like this? <a href="http://www.containerstore.com/browse/Product.jhtml?CATID=74107&PRODID=71187" target="_blank">http://www.containerstore.com/browse...7&PRODID=71187</a>

Somehow we inherited a plastic square storage container ( it looks lie it must have been a candy thing from a bulk store or somthing. It is exactly the right height to store a teabag and wide enough to hold two or three rows of teabags. This way I can kind of " file" them . I can flip through them easily and it takes up wayy less space than a pile of half full boxes of tea. Nice to have a pretty box of some sort so when you offer some tea you could just let someone pick through the box to find what they like ( I do that with mine , but it still has the type of candy sticker on the side... I would like it to be prettier!)

Thanks for all of the great ideas! I like the basket w/ the baggies inside - I have friends over and always offer tea, it would be easier for them to pick through that than hear my list of 20 or so<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><br><br><br>
So glad I posted! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">

I have way too much tea! I have it all in one of my kitchen drawers, it's deep enough to hold two or three boxes high, or a jar of loose tea. I can just open it and see at least half of the offerings to choose from!
