Yes, yes, it's not that important in the grand scheme of things, but I've been looking forward all day to a nice, chewy molasses cookie. The recipe I made resulted in puffy, flavorless cookies. I even bumped up the spices, used fresh grated ginger rather than dried, and put a little black pepper in for a kick. It's even worse because the recipe used nearly all of my good organic molasses. Grrrr... Be warned. These cookies are not yummy. It was too good to be true -- dang Canadians!

That is a bummer! I bet it's because they didn't have any butter!!!! Butter makes everything better.

I made pesto tonight with my ds, he says we're 'experts in pesto'. We're taking it camping on Whidbey Island this weekend. It actually turned out good, but I'm too tired to really appreciate it!

Yeah, like I wanted so badly a kufta kebab (spiced ground beef or lamb or some combination grilled on a skewer served on butter safron rice with a touch of sumac) so I ordered it from the dear folks at a Lebanes restaurant down the road and it was awful, it was actually fried in a pan and all dried out
.

Now I am feeling like, would it be really bad to drive up to Boston for a good one? I could visit my frind too.

I used to live in DC and great kebab was a dime a dozen. Let's face it in such an international city, you could get some really great food!

And here, well I guess it is great if you like seafood, but I don't so much.

Me TOO! DH thinks it's hilarious (in a kind and understanding way
) how bummed out I get when I have disappointing food. Thanks for the sympathy, mamas. Yeah, it's the lack of butter that cursed these cookies from the start. I just believed all the nice people who rated the recipe as fantastic. Dang.

Oh well... another day... another craving

Now I have to say, mzfern...I have made LOTS of great cookie recipes completely void of butter....I think this might just be a stinky recipe.
I usually like allrecipes.com because you can search for a term like "molasses cookies" and a whole bunch of recipes will come out and the recipe is rated by the users.
I never use less than a 5-star rated recipe....a nice way to have a better chance of getting great cookie results

These might hit the spot...

Ginger Cookies
2 1/4 c all-purpose flour
2 t baking soda
14 t sale
1 t cinnamon (I use 2x or more)
1 t ground ginger (I use 2x or more)
3/4 c softened butter
1 c packed, dark brown sugar
1 large egg
1/4 c unsulphured molasses (I use the dark stuff, blackstrap?)
Granulated sugar
cooking spray (or whatever) for the baking sheets.

Preheat oven to 375. Line two baking sheets with parchment or foil, then grease/spray.
Sift together the dry ingredients. Cream together the butter and sugar, beat in egg, then molasses until smooth. Mix in flour mixture. Take 1/4 c cookie dough, roll it into a bowl (wet hands help), then roll in granulated sugar and place on baking sheet. Flatten ball slightly with your fingers. Bake for 12 minutes until firm to the touch. Allow to cool for a few minutes before transfering to a cooling rack.

My added touch - chopped candied ginger mixed into the dough for extra punch. YUM!

I also have been making use of:

for all the stuff I've been craving.

Craving appeased... or simply just gone away. The cookies are getting consumed even though they're not perfect. Today's craving is airpopped popcorn with nutritional yeast.
I just have to wait until I'm done on the computer because the yeast is a killer on the keyboard

Ewww yuck! 'Cause you have the laughie man, I'm guessing that you know that the "Dang Canadian" comment was a joke and that I'm not ACTUALLY blamming the yuck cookies on entire country, just the title of the recipe. Just wanted to be sure, though
I
Canada!

And btw, your senior title quote is just too adorable, about the fridge in your boobie. I love it!
