All I can say is that it pays to have low expectations
I'll just gloss over the inane stuff
We did the SPT because that's the only test that has been effective for dd to identify IgEs. The test in the past (2.5 yrs ago) showed only corn and dairy, but we also identified soy, some fruits and several seeds ourselves through elimination. We went today because dd is having a lot of environmental reactions and I wanted to know if they were being exacerbated by any new food reactions. She was tested for environmentals and the ped panel of food allergies.
She came back extremely positive for cats (we don't have one, but mil does) and low level for about 10 plants/grasses/trees growing in our area. So, good to know.
She was +2 for soy and corn, but nothing for dairy (not even a little). They also said she was negative for wheat and banana, but there was a small wheal for both and I've suspected them, so we're calling it an allergy.
The dairy is puzzling since we trialed it and failed last August, but it's possible that she's outgrown the IgE and still has an IgG or CMPI. I'm going to trial her on some goat dairy and see what happens. We're also going to cut wheat completely. It won't be difficult since I and the baby are gf right now.
He gave me a scrip for an epipen, which I totally don't get. Honestly, I just get the feeling that they don't expect parents to be particularly careful, so they give an epipen to cover all bases. Considering she's never had any reaction worse than eczema, it seems like overkill. They also said they would like to do food trials in 12 or 18 mths in their office. I'm not sure what that will show. We'd have to sit there for a min of six hours to see any food result. Whatever to all of that.
Oh, I mentioned that she'd recently lost several safe fruits and the nurse came back with a paper about sulphite sensitivity. Kudos for thinking outside the box, but only one of the fruits is high in sulphites. IME, it's most definitely a salicylate problem (which we'll start addressing in detox that will start as soon as I can get my ducks in a row with figuring out the pathways, supplements, etc.).
