All I can say is that it pays to have low expectations
I'll just gloss over the inane stuff

We did the SPT because that's the only test that has been effective for dd to identify IgEs. The test in the past (2.5 yrs ago) showed only corn and dairy, but we also identified soy, some fruits and several seeds ourselves through elimination. We went today because dd is having a lot of environmental reactions and I wanted to know if they were being exacerbated by any new food reactions. She was tested for environmentals and the ped panel of food allergies.

She came back extremely positive for cats (we don't have one, but mil does) and low level for about 10 plants/grasses/trees growing in our area. So, good to know.

She was +2 for soy and corn, but nothing for dairy (not even a little). They also said she was negative for wheat and banana, but there was a small wheal for both and I've suspected them, so we're calling it an allergy.

The dairy is puzzling since we trialed it and failed last August, but it's possible that she's outgrown the IgE and still has an IgG or CMPI. I'm going to trial her on some goat dairy and see what happens. We're also going to cut wheat completely. It won't be difficult since I and the baby are gf right now.

He gave me a scrip for an epipen, which I totally don't get. Honestly, I just get the feeling that they don't expect parents to be particularly careful, so they give an epipen to cover all bases. Considering she's never had any reaction worse than eczema, it seems like overkill. They also said they would like to do food trials in 12 or 18 mths in their office. I'm not sure what that will show. We'd have to sit there for a min of six hours to see any food result. Whatever to all of that.

Oh, I mentioned that she'd recently lost several safe fruits and the nurse came back with a paper about sulphite sensitivity. Kudos for thinking outside the box, but only one of the fruits is high in sulphites. IME, it's most definitely a salicylate problem (which we'll start addressing in detox that will start as soon as I can get my ducks in a row with figuring out the pathways, supplements, etc.).

Well at least you got some info. I was going to ask if having dairy out for so long might have skewed the results, but if you trialed it that long ago, I guess not. It's still possible (but sad) for it to be an intolerance now.

And you may not need to use it, but it's handy to have something allergic at MIL's house... (my DH and DD1 have cat allergies, so DH gets out of a lot of family events, which he's happy about).

Im glad you got some new possible results and ideas about what is going on.

Let us know how the salicylate problem goes.

we have our repeat SPT coming up in a few weeks. i'm interested to see what it brings up. i have a few non-typical foods i want them to test.... at least it's a piece of the puzzle, right?

as far as the detox thing, you may just want to jump right in. pick one thing (the salicylates, maybe?) and try to address that. generally, vit c to slightly below bowel tolerance will help with detox - it does it i think directly and indirectly. i'm sick and my head feels stuffed to the gills right now, no room for coherent (or helpful, probably
) thoughts.
but, maybe that?

And then start looking into B vits, especially B6, sublingual B12, folate, biotin... magnesium & zinc. and EFAs/CLO for the A/D ratios... you can check out heal thyself, or shannon has a few sites she's working on. post in the chat thread and i'm sure people will throw a ton of links at you.

And don't forget that if you start your own thread, I'll post it in the chat thread links and a whole bunch of us can (try to) help you figure it out.
Mostly Shannon and Tanya, but we'll all contribute what we can.

Do you mind (or anyone) telling me what brands you all use or where to find the different supplements? Also, how do I figure out dosing? I think people were using NOW SA, am I right? How do you give it to your los (not infants)?
