I was just reading... did you know that your blood volume will increase by around 50% by the end of your pregnancy? That the exact percentage is unique to your pregnancy? That the increased volume not only helps grow your baby but protects you in the case of post partum hemmorhage (more blood you can afford to lose)? And all this without any outside "help" but your good nutrition? Is that not AWESOME?!?

Anyone want to add more cool facts about how our bodies KNOW how to grow a baby?

I agree that our bodies are amazing! I am fascinated with the thought of how a baby in created and nurtured by our bodies. It truly is amazing.

Also, your ribs expand later in pregnancy so your lung capacity can increase, too. I was telling my dh about all this during my first preganncy, and he said its like going from being and economy car to a sedan.

that's cute... but if you really think about it you're still an economy car - carrying your passenger with maximum efficiency!

One little known fact is that for some women, your feet will grow half a shoe size as your body wants to accomodate the extra weight it will be carrying around.
