Some of you may remember (but probably not, lol) many months back I posted about Sarah's icky rash. I was given many great tips by the mamas here about what it coud be. Everything from eczema to impetigo and beyond. Well here we are 10 months later and the baby still has open soreson the outer part of her labia. They bleed when we change her and are obviously painful. We have tried so many different remedies (including sposies
) and nothing has helped at all. We have seen numerous Drs as well and nobody seems to have a clue what it is. Well today we saw a pediatric dermatologist at Children's hospital (between Becca and Sarah, I am getting to know that place too well
) She said that she is not going to try anymore creams as we have tried so many different things. We have to take her back tomorrow morning at 9:30 and they are going to cut the entire thing out and biopsy it. I am so sad as it is going to be miserable for her. The one they are removing is over 1cm in diameter. They will give her 2 shots to numb it and then will remove it and suture. But then she will be left with an open sore that we will have to treat. It hurts me to think of the pain she is going to be in. We will then have to wait 2 weeks to get the results from pathology. I am going to get some Tucks pads to puit right in her dipe. I think it will need to be kept covered because she will pick at it otherwise I would let her go diaperless.

So please say a prayer for my baby as she goes through this tomorrow.

Well, I am glad that's over.
I only have a minute as Becca is fussing but wanted to update you all.

The appt went as well as could be expected. Sarah screamed the whole time but at least I was there with her and could hold her. I think the only part that really hurt her was the numbing shot. The rest seemed to be because she was held down, not pain cries. They removed the biggest sore as well as a small one that appeared more recently. She did not need stitches as they basically just shaved it off at skin level. We have to put Bactroban on it a couple times a day and cover with a band-aid. that part is nice cuz then when she poops, I don't have to wipe the actual sore. Don't ask about taking off the poopy band-aid though

They are putting a rush on the lab work and hopefully it will be back by next Thursday. It is going to a specialty lab. Sarah does not seem to be in any pain now and hopefully it won't start later. She was crabby until we got out of the office and her attitude instantly changed. Smart girl.

I'm glad to see an update-I was thinking about you and Sarah all morning and wanted to post but the board wouldn't load for me much yesterday. I hope she continues to have an easy time.

I missed your previous posts on the rash but I'm hoping you get an answer like a stubborn case of yeast or something that won't be difficult to clear up quickly. Easy healing vibes to your babe, and hang in there you strong mom!!
