I was a little nervous about it because we all were overdue for a dental check-up. This trip was ok. The xrays are always tricky - ds has a major gag reflex. I warned them and they moved as quickly as they could getting the xrays done. Ds has a couple small cavities on his back teeth. For the cleaning he did his best to sit back and let them work. Heck, he even looked relaxed! I thought it was funny they were asking him questions and he was doing his darnest to answer. His speech has come a long, long way. Even with them working in his mouth, they were still able to understand most of what he was saying. It was a proud moment for me We go back in two weeks to get the fillings and seals put on. I'm debating what to tell him and when to tell him what that will involve. Poor boy has never had to get his "teeth put to sleep". All his dental check-ups have been great and I don't want him to be fearful about the dentist after the fillings. He was so relaxed in the chair. Wish us luck!

(oh- on a side note: my sweet-tooth dd has couple small cavities on her back teeth too and an absolute crater in one of her molars. The big one may need a root canel : )

Do people on the sn forum just not like me? Or am I just a quiet enough person that nobody notices me? Let me so I can stop posting here if I'm just wasting my time.

I'm here!

I don't know your background since I am new but I bet you are proud of his speech! Wow, if you could understand him even when they were working on his teeth, that is awesome!
I hope it goes just as well in two weeks.
Yikes, I hope your dd doesn't need a root canal!
Keep us posted.

I like you! (and recognize your username and kiddos so I don't think you're not noticed/too quiet). Anyway, I know sometimes it feels like you are being ignored...I often wait almost a full day to come back and look at my posts to make sure people have a enough time to respond and I don't get my feelings hurt! (in other words, some times of the day people are just not around or don't have enough time to respond right then). Anyway, I care!

I'm glad that it went well. It sounds like you have every reason to be proud of your son and his progress. When did they schedule the work? I hope you'll update on how it goes--sounds like they do great with him. Sorry about dd too...root canal sounds awful!

I recognize you too! I wouldn't take it personally when no one responds right away. I don't respond when I can't relate or don't have anything to say, which is often enough. I DEFINITELY can't relate to bringing DS to the dentist Haven't done that one yet. But what great news that he's doing so well with speech. Don't have any advice for helping him prepare for fillings. That's a hard one.

I've never thought of you as quiet LOL.

Anyway, I'm glad your dentist vist went fairly well. Cavities stink but you had proud moments in there. Think you can get your kids to teach my kids it's ok to open your mouth for the dentist?

My dentist told me not to prep my kids at all for the dental work. They said a lot had changed.
