I have been looking for an outdoor playhouse for my kids. not a tree house per se but just a playhouse.

Except I dont want it to be plastic... aside from building it ourselves (which is just not going to happen) do you guys know of any?

Thanks

Try a large Ace Hardware, I saw pics of a great one from one of those that somebody converted to a chicken coop, but Ace's inventory varies so much by store it's hard to say what you'll find, some apparently will even do custom ones.

we bought a really nice one at Costco (like a sam's) it is all wooden and made to look like a lincoln log house and about 4x5. It was about $300. I didnt see it online though. I have also seen some smaller ones at lowes, they are meant as add on to the Gorilla playsets but they could work for freestanding ones as well.

We are planning on buying the one at Costco. Went today and DD had a ball playing in it.
There is also one online:
http://kidfloor.com/kidkraft-outdoor...house-p-4.html

The one at Costco is a bit different- with sand and water trays and a BBQ grill. But the one at my Costco doesn't have that porch that a PP posted- which is so cute!

The roofs of the kidkraft are plastic (but don't look cheap) and the rest is wood. A great bargain, IMO!

Have you thought of growing a bean teepee? You just need some bean seeds and 6' bamboo poles. Put the poles into the dirt, and tie at the top to make a teepee shape. Then grow a few bean seeds around the poles (leaving open a little space for a door). The kids love these and we don't have to worry about hot plastic in the summer, splinters from wood, or figuring out how to throw it away when we're done with it....

Our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore has groups paint/ design old shipping containers into play houses and then sells them. Maybe check yours if you have one?
