How do you know when you are ovulating if you are nursing? I was super emotional and crampy last week, then we DTD (Thanksgiving Day) and I spotted just a tiny bit, then nothing since. So if I count that as a 'cycle' I'd be ovulating in about two weeks?

My youngest is 7mos and nursing (always? LOL) but I definitely feel like I'm on the right track and my cycle is kick starting again. We want to have another fairly quickly if possible, so I'm curious how other mamas work this out!

Thanks!

Are you charting at all, even without having a period yet? I think it would still be helpful to try to keep track of your temps and your cervical fluid, even if they may be iffy because of nursing. Other than that, you can try fertility monitors or OPKs to know if you're having LH surges around the times you have those symptoms. Good luck!

I have no idea! But I wish I did!! lol

My baby is 11 months & nurses a ton. I've had 2 periods, one when he was 9 mos old, one 3 weeks later, and then nothing for 6 weeks. I'm not temping now though because my goshdurn kids always take my thermometer.
But I do check cervical mucous during every single shower I take. And my CM and my cervix are just crazy! They change so drastically sometimes even day to day that I get all confused. I haven't seen any EWCM though. I've charted in the past with a much older baby & it wasn't nearly so weird & confusing. I just blame it on my nursing hormones. I really have no idea how to tell if one is ovulating while breastfeeding! I too have had major ups & downs emotionally, have had plenty of cramping & all sorts of symptoms that make me think I'm having a period any second.... but then nothing.

I figure that *eventually* I'll find myself pregnant & then I'll know that I ovulated.
