Just a vent, feel free to move on

Owen has been complaining of stomach pains for about 7 weeks. An x-ray last week showed that his intestines were totally backed up. We put him on a couple meds. He also had a sinus and respiratory infection so went on antibiotics as well. Today he went back for another x-ray. The dr called and said he's still backed up but not as bad. We are switching up some of his meds to see if that will help. But the dr said the radiologist also noted a "defect" in his spine. He goes to see an orthopedic dr tommorow morning. I have no idea what is going on. Owen is still in pain every day. He hasn't been in school a whole day in over 2 weeks (they send him home early-sometimes less than an hour after I drop him off).

I hate seeing him in pain and not having any way to help him (immediate relief)

That sucks. We are celiac and extreme constipation is my youngest dd's symptom. It's really uncomfortable. I have learned all kinds of tricks for it.

Just a thought on the spine issue...could it possibly be scoliosis?

Could the stomach issues be stress from everything else going on around him?

Did give him Miralax? I swear by that stuff. My daughter has also taken for similar constipation issues.

Thanks ladies! So the spine thing turned out to be no big deal, thankfully! Basically, most people have 5 lumbar vertebrae. Owen has 6. The dr says it happens in 5 of every 100 people and shouldn't cause him any issues. He's just extra special

He is taking miralax. He's also on benefiber now.

oh no- hugs. My son has chronic constipation and feels yucky a lot. He too takes miralax... and we have to force him to use the bathroom... it's no fun. So glad back issue is nothing to be concerned about!
