has anyone owned/used/seen a padded underwire nursing bra (pretty too would be a bonus!)?

I am wanting to diversify after living in my glamourmom tanks for the past 9 months and want to graduate to a "real" bra again LOL

but I hate poking through my t-shirts so I've always worn padded bras... I just called a local bra shop specializing in nursing and she laughed at me when I asked her about padded nursing bras, said there were none she was aware of.

Anyone else heard of them? TIA!

I just got one - the Bella Materna Padded Nursing Bra:
http://www.bellamaterna.com/net/Prod...spx?style=1221
It's great, although I'm still figuring out how to nurse with it and deal with the padded part (fold down, over, etc).

(By the way, I also really liked their Ruched Clip Bralet non-padded bra).

I believe that Motherhood Maternity has padded nursing bras. Target might also...

Hope that helps!

LLL has come out with a new line of nursing bras, and one of the selections is a padded underwire bra. Since LLL has been vocal about being careful about underwire, I am going to assume that their bra is designed differently than your average underwire. From what I understand, if the underwire goes all the way around the underside of the breast, stopping close to the top of the bra, then that alleviates the issue of clogged ducts. The problem with your average underwire is that it just goes under the base of the breast and therefore the ends of the wire put pressure on the ducts and creates clogs.

Anyway, the link is http://www.llliclothes.com/Bras/Nurs...d-Contour.html

If you get a bra that fits it doesn't matter whether it's underwire or not, the problem is most women are in the wrong bra size. I would avoid buying a padded underwire online, go get fit at a specialty store, they'll find the right bra in the right size for you. One of the problems with bras is that there is no internationally recognized sizing standard so you could be a 36c in one bra and a 34d in another. Tip, the outside wire should almost lie under your arm and the wires between your breast should lie flat against your skin with no "spillage" coming out over the cup of the bra. And please don't trust sizing charts or calculators, they are almost always wrong as women are different shapes which is just as important as size when choosing a style. Medela has a great section on fitting on their website and they've been making underwires for years(not padded though). Hope that helps.

thanks for the info mamas! I actually got a motherhood bra (Even though I really really don't like motherhood nursing clothes/bras) because #1 - it's cheap, only $18, #2- I could try it on, and I happend to be in a mall which happens rarely and I happened to walk right by the motherhood store so I just bought it on impulse
. I think it's actually a little big for me but that's safer than too small I guess and so far, it's been fine. No risk of plugged ducts since it fits kind of loose.

I do agree with PP that it's hard to figure out what to do with the padding when I'm nursing, it's kind of in the way, but not too terrible. It's nice not to have to worry about giving everyone a peep show thanks to the padding LOL
