Pain--help!

513 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Pigpen
My right breast is extremely painful. It feels like it does when I'm really engorged, but I know I'm not engorged. I know it's not a plugged duct, cause I just tried feeding DS and the milk was shooting out.
It hurts constantly and is very very tender to the touch. But, it really doesn't hurt any worse when I'm nursing. I've also been having a lot of headaches and a sore throat, if that means anything.
Does anyone have any idea what is causing this or what I can do?

Could still be a plugged duct that's deep. Also the milk can still shoot out the other ducts, that aren't plugged. I'd read up on kellymom about plugged ducts and mastitis and see if you think that's the problem. Try treating it like a plugged duct and see if that helps.
Sounds like when I had mastitis. Can you take some extra vitamin C and use warm compresses? That helped me. It's miserable, I hope you're feeling better soon.
