every month around the time im ovulating nursing becomes extremely painful. it lasts for about 5-7 days, and it hurts so much i seriously consider being done nursing. the rest of the month i love nursing (my dd is 17 months old), and i am hoping to nurse until she is at least 2, or until she shows me she is done nursing.<br>
please help me! why does it hurt so much? what can i do to make it better? nursing hurts so bad that i find myself cringing and clenching my teeth when she latches on. help!<br>

YESSSSSSSSSSS! I had that. It's <i>awful</i>. I used to get cracks and blisters when I ovulated. Totally miserable.<br><br>
What saved me was taking daily evening primrose oil. You really do have to take it every day during your whole cycle for it to work, but the effects were noticeable even that first month. I had dramatically less soreness and no abrasions at all. I hope it helps, mama! I sympathize both with the pain you're in and with how hard it is to find anyone who is familiar with that. I had a rough go of it myself with my first child until someone here mentioned EPO.

I'm so glad I read this! Every since AF came back at 14 months PP, I have experienced this. Every month I swear I am going to wean (obviously, since DD will be 3 this summer and is still nursing, I haven't followed through on that, LOL). I can't wait to try this! It is nearly unbearably painful to nurse when I'm ovulating but I never knew there was anything to be done about it.

I EP, but I just got AF for the 1st time last month and was experiencing pain while pumping. I never even thought of AF until a friend mentioned it.
