I'm sort of starting to have early labor symptoms - sporadic painful contractions, upset stomach, bloody show. It isn't all that uncomfortable yet but I'm starting to have some panic and anxiety. I do have a doula who I will be working with and I know that will help. I just need to figure out some ways to calm myself down until labor really kicks off and she comes. Any suggestions.

I don't know if this will be helpful for not, but I had a TON of prelabor with my 2nd. Whenever it was going on I got anxious like I felt I wasn't ready, lots of anxiety, etc. When "real" labor started, it was totally different. I wasn't anxious at all. I had a glass of wine here and there to ease off the prelabor stuff. For some reason, the time it turned into actual labor (she was born in less than 4 hours of active labor), I was just ready suddenly.

warm baths, deep breathing, a glass of wine....maybe try distracting yourself with a good movie or a long talk on the phone with an old friend. anxiety is not fun ( i know!) but help your body & mind relax. do you have any rescue remedy available? what pp said is reassuring - when more active labor starts, hopefully you'll switch gears & be ready to have this baby! good luck, mama!

I anticipated panic and anxiety during labor, too, and was really worried about it, but when the time came I was completely in the moment with no time to be anxious. I bet the same thing will happen to you. Tell your doula your fears and have some Rescue Remedy (like natural, safe valium) on hand and I can almost guarantee you'll be fine.
